Suppose this will descend nto the usual trans atlantic bicker but has it been shown over there at all and if so how did it go down?

It's being shown a week ahead of us over there, isn't it? Mate of mine has lived in the US for over 10 years now and mailed me about it last week.
I genuinely thought I'd hate this, but that Rosie O'Donnell closing line was class, and I actually laughed out loud at "Computer Says No" for the first time ever.
I thought it was quite amusing but the first episode of any series is the strongest so not sure what the rest will bring. Good to see some of the old characters again though.
What is the history of the show/actors?
I've seen parts of it, it runs on HBO. Last show had the British Prime Minister trying to have sex with a Obama lookalike US president. Has lots of people in really fat suit costumes, often getting naked. Bizarre and absurd, and sometimes funny, but if it is parody I can't tell what it is a parody of? Their versions of Americans of awfully British.
