Word of the Day: defenestrate

I just love this word. It means, simply, to chuck something out of the window.

How many things do you feel like defenestrating in a day? Computers, the telly, your wife, the phone bill...

Defenestrate it all - let the gardener sort em out

On certain penguin related fora that I used to haunt, it was also used to refer to the successful conversion of a DOS user to Linux. Statements like "well, I defenestrated my grandma last year and she's never been happier" were common.

Apparently there is historical import contained in "the defenestrations of Prague" but was too smashed at the time I had it explained to me to be able to repeat it coherently here.

Didn't know there was a game of that name! Just liked the word. Was going to follow up with 'tergiversations', 'mephitic', and 'haptic', but this 'word of the day' concept doesn't seem to have caught on. Swear word of the day would probably have worked better.

I used the word fenestration in a sentence today. I'm running a window scheme, but still.

Reminds me of a film project we did at school which involved the teacher encouraging us to throw each other out of the ground floor window but pretending on film it was the top floor.School days the best days of yer life.I never did see the finished film though:\ohwell:

Pusillanimous is a good word from that list, should be used more often from politicians about their opponents
