Please To Meet You like most of their work is badly underrated for what it is. I remember a snooty NME fuckwit dismissing the entire single in a prissy review back in '01, the usual hipster Indie snobbery. He probably hadn't even listened to it all the way through.
There's a shorter radio mix on "The Collection" CD which is equally as quality

I think its quite good. As with most James stuff its better live.
However, the song is utterly ruined by the 2001 Live DVD. With that Cunt Booth and his utterly cringeworthy 'dancing'. What a fucking twat.
One of the great tragedies in musical history is that Jim Glennie didnt carry on with James after Booth left, as he promised. James could be so so great if Tim Booth wasnt involved. I mean what a fucking prick. Leaving the band to set up an interprative dance school. And then failing as an actor, failing a dancer, failing as a writer, failing as a solo artist (after saying he would never record or play live again) and then reforming James saying that had nothing to do with it. What a cunt.
Folding the band "for good" in 2001 was pointless especially as it wasn't "for good" at all and they'd be back gigging within 6 years. For that Booth made a bit of a dick of himself... the flights of fancy "acting" and "dance school" were equally misguided.
He should've just said "we're taking a break for a bit".
I like the new album a lot though... definitely has it's moments.

James is one of those bands that I can tell is really good music, but just can't seem to get into them. Not sure what it is really, it just seems theres something missing that I can't put my finger on
Had a brilliant time at the gmex gig last night. Tim Booth was superb and everyone there seemed to have a fantastic time too!! :)
went to see james at the gmex last night - fucking quality gig! i really enjoyed it, it really was awesome. 
I was there on Friday and thought it was brilliant. Spoke to others since who thought it was shite. Can't understand it, they must have been at a different gig.
As I think I mentioned at the time, James were utter shit in Aberdeen in the summer. I was really disappointed - they were one of my favourite bands when I was a kid and two recent gigs I'd seen, in Glasgow and the MEN, saw them right back on form.
Aberdeen was one of the most mailed-in performances I've ever seen, none of the band seemed to be bothered. Tim Booth was at his belligerent worst, berating the audience several times for not getting into it and at one point shouting at us for speaking during a bit where we were supposed to be quiet - "you've ruined the moment". Surreally, most of the band had cameras or video recorders and spent a lot of the gig running around taking pictures of themselves and the crowd. Which was a bit shit. There was a bit of a sing-along at the end of Come Home, which the band stood and filmed while Tim did his 'this is an amazing experience, we're beautiful' act that's always pissed me off. We should have fucking charged them - it was the best bit of an otherwise shit night out. I don't think I'd go and see them again. The whole evening made me realise that James have nothing left to offer me and they've had enough of my fucking money.
And the trumpet player was wearing a dress. What's that all about?

Well, I thought the London gig was great - they must have just had an off-day in Aberdeen (can't blame them - it's bloody freezing up there)! :p

Andy Diagram has always worn a dress onstage. I have seen him in a footie shirt, but normally in a dress. My mate knows him quite well, but I've never thought to ask him about the dresses. Will do so and report back.

What the fuck was he on about there? Tim Booth has always come across as an avant garde queer cunt funny dancer admittedly,just his way I think...Great singer too.. It smacked of poor research from the DJ though,who actually said the song just played was 'sit down'
