iPods are for Bitches

I lost my beloved MP3 player (it will turn up, no doubt) so yesterday I bought one of these.

It's gorgeous. Light as a penny, lovely buttons, shiny, wi-fi for internet radio and streaming from PC, useful speaker and it tastes of parma violets when you lick it. No crappy iTunes interface; just drag files into it's mind or synchronise with Media Player. Only 16gB but takes SD cards so you can expand the memory or, I've just realised, use it to view pictures from my camera (although that's shit because the screen is about the same size as my camera). It feels like it would skip well, but I'm not throwing it into the sea I'm keeping it it's mine all mine.

I love you Zen X-Fi.

Sadly I can't give it one because it's only about 4" long. I do keep kissing it though.

After recently having my laptop fixed. I've dumped Itunes and started using Windows Media Player. I'm now thinking of finally dumping my Ipod in favour of a more flexible MP3 player.

Last time I saw a jesusphone attempt to self locate it was off by 500 metres....that's a lot of beds away, and I seem to recall that when it's proud owner tried to show the find nearest X" thing, was bringing up SCOTLAND! (possibly nearer, altough since the "second nearest" was in Belfast I fucking doubt it, but either way, no account was taken of the 15 miles of freezing water in the way).

All that carry on is what EEE-PC's are for, just run google earth on it, it works. My ma, who's 62 is having a great time with her Xandros Linux based EEE-PC (not having used windows, she does not erroneously believe everything in linux is "wrong", and when I showed her one that DID run windows, she was as lost as....well as a 62 year old technophobe faced with an OS where you click "start" to make it stop). Oddly, my O2 broadband modem which states it only runs on XP or VIsta (wonder how much they were paid for that lie), runs like SHITE on my mate's windows EEE-PC, like SHITE on my laptop under windows, sort of tolerably on the laptop under Gentoo Linux, and like a total dream on me mum's EEE.

Doesn't need one, he's a Scot, the most miserably tight fisted race of cunts on the planet, he's NEVER bought a CrO2 tape in his life and Metal ones are RIGHT out (besides, you can fiddle with the bias/eq setting all you like, metal tapes will still file the tape head flat in about 6 weeks on a walkman) The tape selector on PLAYBACK is fairly pointles anyway, it only pops a high pass filter in to take out any audible harmonic artifacts caused by the higher bias frequency and amplitude required by other tape types. For recording, naturally it sets the differing bias freq/amp....and that's quite importand because the bias signal for an Fe tape will barely affect a CrO2.

(bias for those who need to know, is a thing which....well, did you ever do the experiment in school where you poured iron filings on a bit of paper and held it over a magnet, and nothing happened, until you tapped the paper, and they filings all fell into the lines of magnetic flux aroud the magnet.....well bias is an electrical version of tapping the paper, it's a high freqency signal added to the audio, which magnetically excites all the particles on the tape, allowing them to more easily "move" (more accurately, "move to a new level of magnetism"), into the pattern required to record the audio.....these little science moments are getting hard for me these days, I mean, you can all fuck off and check wikipedia to see whether I'm bullshitting or not )

I've got one of those N95s. Best phone I've ever had.

I don't like using it as a music player because it knackers the batteries and upsets the air stewardesses.

The sat nav is just silly though. Someone I know has the newer model and it looks much better.

if you haven't done so, i recommend a firmware upgrade for it. Massively extended the battery life on mine (somehow..?) and made it run faster.
