A spokesperson for royal magazine was saying it was OK because he gets called ginger.
So do I, even though I am really blonde!
Slight overreaction me thinks - as usual.
It was ONLY a bit of fun..........
Australians - Aussies
Germans - Krauts
French - Frogs
Italians - Greasy Waps
Dutch - Cloggies
Chinese - Chinks
Japanese - Slant eyes
Irish - Paddies
Scots - Jocks
Welsh - Taffs or Sheepshaggers
People from Somerset - inbred Cider drinkers
People from Devon - Clotted creamed Peasants
People from the Midlands - generally all round nice folk with appalling accents. But NEVER a Brummie, God Forbid.......
What about 'Brummies' born and bred in the Black Country? Presumably we can't call them 'Blackies'?
Only asking!
Words, in theory, cannot hurt, only sticks and stones. You have to CHOOSE to be offended by words - or you can CHOOSE to ignore them - funny that eh?
I find the mention of gang rape far more offensive, as a ginger haired brummie
Spudmuncher or boghopper are better.
Question........
Doesn't "stan" mean "land" or "country"? Ie......afganistan is the land of afgans, uzbekistan is the land of uzbeks and pakistan is the land of pakis?
Still, it's been co-opted by the fuckwits now, so it IS a naughty word.
But, I've asked this before and not had an answer (we were talking about "nigger" at the time I think....If someone from Pakistan uses the word[1], a moral dilema arises.....Treat him the same as a non Pakistani who says it (which is silly), or do nothing (which is treating someone differently according to their race, which is racism), go figure.
I've spoken with people from over half the countries on this horrid little rock, and there are only two whose citizens appear in anyway different....and there's already a thread about how one of them sucks up to the other.
[1]Mate of mine from Glasgow, reckons all corner shops there are called "paki shops", and that on several ocassions, has had a conversation simillar to the following with the asian gentleman behind the counter...
"Have you got any fusewire mate?"
"No pal, I sold the last of it last week and I'm not going to the wholesaler until Saturday. Mr Ahmed in the Paki shop down the road has some though I think".
