Cretaceous - A meteor crater (Chicxulub) 120 miles in diameter off the Yucatan peninsula is blamed for the increase, but not an increase in CO2, rather a blanket of dust particles that choked out sunlight, months of global refrigeration and an increase in acid rain.
Radiometric dating and also finding the "shocked grains" of the irridium blanket can be found across the world.
*note-CO2 levels were lowest in the Cretaceous for the Mesozoic Era.

It is debatable that the foraminifera found above the irridium layer are good index fossils. Also it is debateable that the shocked quartz sandstone she talks about is from the same impact, and not another.
She might be right or wrong, as it takes time for these things to work from journal articles and into the textbooks.
But she does not confirm that it was CO2 induced. She states that the K-T boundary is either of another large meteor impact or possibly volcanic eruptions in India. The main problem with the latter is from what I understand, H2O isotope levels in the polar cap don't agree with this theory, as there was not a global warming during the time of extinction (as the CO2 levels from a catostophic eruption she talks about would most definately cause global warming).

I was a but pissed when I wrote that, but I seem to remember being amused about how you seemed to disagree by saying the same thing, and both of you are quite wrong because many abandoned mines are virtually impossible to return to because of flooding and subsidance.

Steel is probably a good example of an industry fucked over by her, although i don't know what state British Steel was in during the early 80's.
One industry she did fuck over justifiably was shipbuilding. (Doc will disagree on this

For some bizarre reason, for thirty years after the end of the 2nd World War, the UK insisted on having the largest (by far) navy in the world, and continued commissioning warships into the seventies, almost, it would seem to keep the industry going. The harsh reality being that UK by that point was no longer a world power.
Actually she DID fuck shipbuilding over. I know the govt pumped a few quid into Harland's but it was only enough to keep it open and no more really, because they needed it's unique facilities. Some of the yards on the tyne and clyde got the same too...."oh look, we're subsidising these poor useless industries, aren't we great".....then sending all the navy orders overseas.
Harland's since she fucked off, is oddly doing pretty well for itself.
