It's a tough one.. I do remember 1979 though, 19% inflation, and a country close to bankruptcy. In particular, I remember a Green Goddess turn up to see the embers of my family shed 4 hours after phoning the fire brigade. She frightened the shit out of Jacques Chirac in agreeing to the European rebate, which is an impressive achievement.

Seems uncannily familiar in these times right now. Sometimes you need a hard bitch to sort it out. It's still a nay though.

I love these people who think of a couple of things that Thatcher did that were arguably good and trumpet them as indicative of her overall success as a leader. Every day she did something spiteful, stupid or incompetent and she left as her legacy a country with hardly any manufacturing capabilities, wasted natural resources, crippled banking legal systems and a corrupt press. Most of this we will never recover from. She was a beast, a selfish moron whose only aim was to protect her own career and to avenge anyone who crossed her, taking joy from hurting as many people as possible in the process.

And she is responsible for the popularity of that smug twat Ben Elton, too. For that alone I hope she burns in hell.

And don't forget, it was she who "funded" the first global warming "research" in order to get "proof" that Nuclear was the better option (which, frankly it is). SO, next time some little wanker tells you lies about how Britain really is much warmer than when they grew champagne grapes in Manchester.....you can thank Thatch and her corrupt "scientists".

SO just remember, when you comply with insane enviro-myth laws, you piss on every miner whose life that cunt destroyed.....cos the whole thing was cooked up to destroy the need for "dirty and harmful" coal....ie the NUM.

I use to dispise her during her reign. But its funny looking back. I think Britain (or was it me and my family) were so much better off under her leadership than when the cretins (called Labour) rolled in drinking a can of "lets give more to the idle" whilst smoking a huge reef of "lets distablise this country with red tape, now accountability, lawlessness, no immigration control, stupid lending, etc".

Its pretty sound science. I'm a sceptic anytime someone tells me something is fact, so I've looked into it more when I was getting my Bachelors (enviro is under Geology here).

What is a load of crap is the timeline for the future, as no one has any clue on it, but negative effects definateely coming, its just how much.

What science is a load of shite is the "fact" of ozone depletion by CFCs. That is definately a political mistake that cost billions, so as such no one wants to admit it.

The measurements and the ability to read the history of climate change on the Earth is a very exact, sound science.

The point that carbon increases temperature and that it is increasing in our atmosphere is very sound.

Forecasting (or as I mentioned earlier as future timelines) is not exact. It is too difficult to interpret as there are so many variables in changing the climate. All the models to predict future climates only put in about 10-20 variables, but even those variables can have differing effects that simply can't be computed.

Is the future climate trumped up to move countries in action, quite possibly... but the fact of the matter is, an increase in CO2 is not good for human life existance.

Actually if you look at the data, temperature changes THEN Co2 changes (probably because the warmer sea releaes more).

If you cannot make repeatably testable predictions based on your theory, it is quite simply not science, by definition. In fact, what you have, is something closer to religion, where whatever happens it is global warming moving in mysterious ways.

Don't misunderstand, I think we absolutely should clean up our act, but terrifying people is the wrong way to go about it. And so is telling Africa etc that they are not allowed to develope because it'll be bad for the planet.

But we can reproduce each effect individually, but with so many factors changing each of the other factors, it makes it too difficult to comprehend. i.e. Chaos theory.

Its not mysterious, it is simply too complicated for computer programs to grasp... or at least for us to grasp in making an effective computer program for predictions.

Yes, that's right, it was nothing whatsoever to do with her hatred of the miners as a union power block, and you'd be paranoid and delusional to think it was. I doubt any politician 25 years ago, and in history in general, would look that far ahead. All the ones I've ever known tend to look a maximum of 4-5 years ahead.

Besides, it is still in the ground, and at £1000 a ton, it might be tempting to open up the odd mine again.
