I'm not a mac pusher, use whatever computer you want, but thought this was worth mentioning.

First Apple mac released 25 years ago today, the ad was fantastic, directed by Ridley Scott first shown during the final of the super bowl.

That's one of my favorite commercials of all time too. Classic.

All well and good.

At the time macs offered far superior and markedly differnt hardware, and an original OS (windows is nicked more from mac-OS than directly from the original Xerox-PARC WIMP system....blatantly nicked too, because whichever of the two steves that was in charge at the time employed Gates' code monkeys to tidy up and optimise all the stuff his fuckin propellorheads had written......legend has it that physical restraint was required when the first demo version was returned to apple, complete with MS demogimp, and booted with the message "copyright macroshaft").

BUT today they sell PC's running a tweaked version of FreeBSD and made inside nice cases. Apple has become a religion, a fullyfledged cult, look at the fucking Jesusphone for crying out loud....the bugger barely works yet it is worshipped.

Buy a PC, still BSD or Linux on it and spray it white=apple for 40% the cost.

Not saying they aint slick looking and all but it's all got beyond a joke.

Now here's a thing....I know Macs are supposed to be shit hot for performing in a band or DJ-ing with because it won't crash,but...erm ..would you recommend any laptops that would come under a Monty budget that'd do the same?

As i said, I'm not a mac pusher, use whatever you judge is best for your own use, and I agree with cambo up to an extent.

At the time the original mac came out though, most PC's were out of most peoples budget, and the mac opened up a whole new market, which worked out better for everyone, whether mac pc or whatever. it was always steve jobs plan to produce household mac, whereas it was always steve wozniacs plan to produce the most powerful computer possible.

BTW don't believe the hype, all computers will crash at some point, no matter what OS they're running
