Generally follow a decent mouth care regime, Aquafresh for brushing and listerine for a gargle

However, plagued by three little mouth ulcers, salted food fookin hurts, celery hurts, hot food hurts, chocolate aggravates them, so I'm on yoghurts

Now I know when I was a younger fella I got them as a result of ingesting certain powders and then talking me head off and chewing the inside of me cheeks.

But that aint the case here, only change to me lifestyle is giving up the cigs two week back.

but one thing i am certain about, size of the little fookers I hope I never have ulcers which decide to link up, I'd need fookin morphine.

gargling saltwater at the moment, any advice from fellow sufferers:spit:

Keep poking it with the tip of your tongue. It hurts, but for some reason I do this constantly when I have one.

100% cranberry juice helps...

Good tips, I like cranberry juice anyways and Jem's tip has the advantage of being cheap too

also advised to put a rock of Maldon sea salt on affected areas, which sounds like it'll smart a bit. Other bit of advice is too srub the ulcer with a toothbrush which sounds downright stupid to me.... or a wind up.

thanks peeps

He's got an ulcer, not fucking cystitis.

I suggest smoking smack for a while. That'll take the edge off.

Dab some bicarbonate of soda on it every few hours, will be gone in a day!!

Bicarb works.

Ulcers are caused by excess acid, so lay off the fruit juices, alcohol and similar. Milk is alkaline, as are natural yogurts. They'll help.

Bonjella is cheap and non-prescription and that will help with the pain as will paracetamol - don't use asprin as it exacerbates ulcers and irritates the stomach lining.

Rinsing with a saline solution as you have been - half teaspoon of salt to a half pint of water - no need to 'gargle' just rinse your mouth, don't swallow - do it twice a day or after food - clean your teeth first too.

Brush your teeth gently, try not to knock the ulcers.

If they persist more than two weeks, go to your GP and/or your dentist - they'll both be able to help.

Just hope you don't end up with a peptic ulcer like me

Hope you feel better soon mate. :thumb:

P.S. Please tell us how you've managed to keep off the fags for two weeks...

My wife complains of the same thing, so for years I make sure I clean it off before it gets polished off:thumb:

Mr Nash You truly are a healthcare genius, glad you agree with the bicarb!

I used to suffer from mouth ulcers as well and the pain could get really, really bad. Turned out it was caused by the sodium laureth sulfate that was in my toothpaste. Changing toothpaste really helped, I rarely get any mouth ulcers anymore.

You got anything in that kit bag for Hiddradenitis Suppuritiva? He asks, expecting the answer "a bottle of whiskey, a gun and a bullet".

(desperation kicking in,cos I have the awful feeling they're turning me over to the knife men next week.......could mean 4 immobilised months, with someone else wiping my arse.....which frankly, is the cutoff point I've always set for having myself put down....and there's no guaranteed any op will WORK!.....(sore and miffed,Bangor) ).

I recommend Cranberry juice, Steve. It's the one-stop cure for AIDS, cancer, world famine, terrorism and impotence.

Thank you Dr F, I shall try that, as I too have heard of it's magical properties. Trouble is, it tastes like something your grand dad would hit you a clip round the ear for eating off some poisonous plant when you were a nipper.

If I DO end up having to outsource my sewerage.....you're still unemployed...sorry...forgot my newspeak....."seeking a job"..... aren't you? Might make it all worthwhile :evil4:

Posted on a different thread, in a different context, this statement from you could cause a number of vikings to have a siezure.

(and I think we all know what they'd be seizing)

It's OK, I've already got my coat half on.

great advice trying the bicarb cos there's some in the house, ditto the yoghurt option.

off the cigs for two weeks, I aint finding it easy. like to smoke, job I do involves long periods of standing about waiting for something to happen, invariably with other smokers. In this respect smoking is definitely a social thing, if I'm at a venue I don't know or with a crew I don't know, then the communal lighting up is a great ice-breaker. That said, if I do know the crew/venue it's a social thing again. Either way pulling out a bag of carrot batons doesn't really fit the situation Pub I go in, again I tend to visit at a more unsocial end of the day, so usually it's a lock-in type of thing with a few mates (and a landlord who smokes) so again not conducive to having a nicotine gum. so why am I trying to give up if I like it? Price is one factor, too much tax on our UK cigs and the Euro/Polish/Turkish/Wherever The Fuck options invariably give me a bad throat. Health is the other, I accept I must have done some damage over the years, but I still feel fine and can do a couple of hours in the gym without clutching me chest in pain or having recourse to an ambulance trip. So I am hoping to quit while I am ahead....

could murder one now though:smoking: where's me bicarb n carrot batons?

Allah be praised, once again our children can be told of the genius of Benny Hill, or whatever the fuck you can blether on about movies for four fucking years. You know, if you ever fancy a guest speaker on the subject of Tom Cruise's inspirational treatment of the classic of English Lit, just PM me.

EDIT: I'm looking forward to his Julius Caesar.......30 secs in, JC gets it, screaming "brad..noooooooo!" (Brutus or even Brute...not gonna happen....it'll be Brad or Byron or something).........the rest of the movie is JC's daughter sobbing and screaming "daddy"

I was only trying to help you know! I'd have thought that ferreting around in a paddie's bog functions would be great for you.....paid for your hobby, that sort of thing.

you stokie fuckbag...blah blah..standard abuse....fungus encrusted labia....etc

Actually, Steve-O, it's lectures on "I Love Lucy" and the postwar nuclear family and on 50s 'social problem' youth movies.

So there.

Nothing that you won't have heard or discovered already Steve and to be honest, as there's no known cure and no one is even certain as to its cause, most things I would say would, at best, sound fatuous or condescending.

One of the best things is diet and exercise, which as you know, can in some cases alleviate the symptoms. In severe cases though, anything like that is physically impossible.

On the brighter side though, the operation that I suspect you are talking about having is normally completely reversible - one of my friends had a reversal after 17 years and is now fit and well.

As you say though, there's always the gun/bullet whiskey option, but I wouldn't recommend that one...

I hope all turns out better than you're expecting though mate :thumb:
