They are the ones I play(ed) most of the time, some cracking gigs and some cracking moments on some of em, I always say if there was one gig I coulda gone to, it woulda been Reading 89 - fucking fantastic set - and the audio copy is pretty good an all mate

but you went to the nec in 89? what stopped you? as well as the order had the sugarcubes, that petrol emotion, the house of love, the swans etc all on the same day. (wasn't it?)

Think every gig from that tour in mid 87 is worth a listen.
Most of mine were 'Lazlo Productions' - said 'Lazlo' was at the Parisian gigs last Autumn. Well, I guess he's been at most gigs - I just never knew who he was till Paris.
Reading Uni's a goodie, as is the Barrowlands, and the Hac gig is a cracker just to hear Barney completely ruin Temptation with the most disinterested performance he's probably ever given.
Used to love that period - remember just sending off for, like, 10 bootlegs from the Far East tour, and nabbing another 10 off the US tour with the Bunnymen, then playing tapes through not knowing what tracks were gonna come next.
Bit pointless collecting Order bootlegs these days. Read somewhere that this is why bands play identical sets - to combat the bootleggers. Bad show if it is. I'd just prefer to believe that the Order are lazy, although Barney has spoken out against bootleggers in the past.

i,m a big fan of bootlegs.. but they have gotta be good quality or i just aint interested.. its always nice if you were there ( so to speak)

I could go on for hours, and will have to listen to most of these again for great nostalgia value !! :)
Thanks for your suggestions and help.Having never been to keen on DODGY tapes unless i had BEEN to GIG then it is useful to sort the good from the bad and the ugly.
Personal fave is Barrowlands '86: if there was one gig I could go back in time to.......Also have a killer mixing dek tape from chicago in (i think) 1985 - great stuff.....
And on a similar topic, are there decent recordings of Finsbury and Old Trafford doing the rounds yet?? And , if so, can anyone "sort me out", so to speak???

Colin Kerr from Ceremony wrote a brilliant review of this gig on said list, or maybe at alt.music.new-order, not sure which, a fair few years back.
Can't remember exact details but think he got dumped by his fiancee, on his birthday, at the Edinbro' gig the night before, then went to Glasgee on his own, now minus his fiancee, to indulge in a rather large night out, and it was simply the best gig he'd ever seen. Something along those lines anyways. Nice when people put personal touches to gigs..

Chicago 85 mixer ? I've got an excellent audience tape of this, but have never seen a mixer.

And before you start i have paid more into this nations coffers than i will be allowed to take out.At one stage and i kid you not,the DHSS/BENEFITS OFFICE paid me 10p a week or 20p a fortnight paid into my account.I wrote a letter of complaint and was 7p out of pocket for 2 weeks.Ain't LIFE a giggle.

not a great hoarder of tapes...i lose them all the time....had lots of live tapes in the past...one that stands out is a mixing desk recording of a gig in new zealand...they play an 18 min version of 586...(get yer survival kit out)..

The 87 gigs were indeed classics!
Also Jarvo's post reminded me of Glasgow Barrowlands 85 - that was a fuckin superb concert - great crowd participation - and Barney's untimely gag about the Ethiopian prostitute!
I strongly recomend that one Mick - good sound quality, I think it was February 85 - check the tapes matey;)

Has anyone ever heard, I think its called 'Pier 84' New York from around 1986? ... I picked it up in America. Has lots of Brotherhood material on it, pretty good sound quality (it's a vinyl) - its almost like a Brotherhood gig. I guess they were trying out the songs. Sequencers are excellent.

My copy of that is called "Chapter III" (these things often masquerade under different names, don't they?). Nice recording, and also features the notorious Barney-ism along the lines (pun intended) of "I know everyone says this, but we really DO love New York [cheers] ... the drugs are so cheap here ... and plentiful". Cheeky get was probably wearing his "Just Say No...." t-shirt......
