Building some fancy buildings is not a great human achievement. Compared to the cracking of the human genome (US/UK mainly) and the Internet (UK), Space Exploration etc the UAE has achieved nothing. 8- After English. Its still all kept in cages and pens and never see daylights.

The Halal system is ridiculous and unregulated. I've had Muslims try and bribe me to put the Halal symbol on my products, so they can sell them, when they are riddled with pork gelatine.

I cannot believe all the Halal fast food eateries of East London really buy in the correct meat (which is more expensive), and don't cut corners in these harsh economic times. Besides, there is a good argument that red meat has a better taste with the blood left in it.

U.A.E. is an example of "moderation" with all the absurd luxuries spent from oil money? The workforce are basically indentured servants with almost no rights, is that true?. Millions of muslims live in poverty in Africa and Asia, I guess it is easier to fast when you live in extreme poverty. An example of moderation to the world?

Islam pretty much destroyed science and math in the ME. Greek philosophy(science) had moved to Rome as the center of Western thought (the Chinese and India being the only other centers of the time). After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Arabic cultures saved Greek/Roman philosophy from the dark ages where society no longer had organzied schools. Just after all greek philoshy was translated to Arabic, the Roman Catholic monastaries took in the Arabic translations and started teaching from them and about that same time Islam came around science disappeared into a abysmal well in the ME...
