Caught this tonight - thought it was great. Christian Bale's non-acting-with-a-different-accent actually works in this movie, and Marion Cotillard is a total hottie.
Nice to see that Johnny Depp (aged fortyfuckingsix) is finally starting to show some signs of getting older: digital photography does not flatter bags under one's eyes. Looks like the devil is finally starting to default on that deal they made at the old crossroads....
Basically, if you like Michael Mann movies, you'll love this.

Nah, Depp plays Professor Griff, who is also largely unaffected by the aging process. Watch out for the bit where he denies the Holocaust and mumbles about Zionism and 'Jews' being so called because they own all the jewelery stores.....
Hibster: 'Miami Vice' is worth seeing just for Colin Farrell's 'tache (in the same way that 'Alexander' is worth seeing just for Colin Farrell's peroxide wig).
I don't watch a lot of films but I watched The Machinist the other night on DVD and I thought that Christian Bale was excellent in it. Great movie. Here's my reviews of all the movies I watched en route to and returning from Uganda the other week.
Slumdog Millionaire. Not as good as everyone made me think it would be. The Wrestler. Very sad. Made me a bit emotional. Excellent. Four Christmases. I love Vince Vaughn but this is SHITE. The Hangover. Fan-fucking-tastic. Funny AND clever. Film of the century.

Seen Slumdog and agree. Someone should have a word with the person who wrote 'the feelgood film of the year' on the DVD sleeve too. It made me feel shite.

"The Hangover" is hilarious from start to finish. Have not laughed that hard in a long time.
Zach Galifinikas will be a star thanks to that movie.

Well I never. I'd have put her at 28/29. I was confused by that scene where the 'jocks' were having a go at her for being too old. Bad casting if she was supposed to actually look 45. She hawt.

Have you not seen "My Cousin Vinny" (with Joe Pesci and the lad from "Karate Kid") when she is still in her 20s? It's only worth watching for her to be honest but, believe me, that's reason enough.
She won an Oscar with that movie. It ain't for her acting.

It made me angry and mysogenistic.........That wee girl, fucked him about, treated him like shite, fucked off with all manner of total cunts, and as soon as yer man wins a few rupees, she's all over him, fuck that......that one point kinda eclipsed the whole movie for me.

"The Wrestler" is very good, Marisa Tomei looks too good for role thou, she doesn't really come across as the aging white trash stripper. Bad acting, but they gave her a nomination for her hot 40 yr body? Can't blame the director thou for having her cause she is hot and sweet. But what about Mickey Rourke's FACE, he almost looks like a completely different person? I know he worked out and probably took steroids, but what the hell did he massively inject Botox all over his face, and maybe his chest too? Mickey's face freaks me out.
"The Hangover" is very funny, but not really all that good, sort of an odd accomplishment. Heather Graham is another impossibly hot, nice, cute trashy stripper, why isn't she in more movies?
"Star Trek Lite" ... still have not decided whether this is actually good or not, is it a parody or just a pointless remake. Suppose it is some summer fun.
I liked "Slumdog". Beautiful film. I think people don't like that it is just a simple fantasy, they expect more layers of bullshit, while it sticks to the more straight forward bullshit.
