i love this band. just got really obsessive about them a month ago and i practically listen to them everyday! Sonic flower groove is a great record. and hopefully, their new record will be released here sometime soon...i don't remember any north american release dates though :(

Saw them support 'New Order' at Wembley Arena 87' and they were awful...then BG done us all a favour and fell off stage! But fair dues since 'Loaded' they have'nt put a foot wrong.
Not much of a Scream admirer to be honest but I did like much of their last couple of albums - "Vanishing Point" (that one with Augustus Pablo on melodica is pretty ace in a mellow sort of way - "Star") - and "Xtrmntr" is pretty unhinged in places - which is no bad thing! ;)
Had Sonic Flower Groove, but sold it soon after, as it didn't sound so good compared to Sonic Youth, etc. back then. Also agree that they turned it around with Screamadelica (it was nice to see that they worked with Adrian Sherwood for a bit on Vanishing Point as well), and XTRMNTR is a great record.
Still stand by my assertion that Rocks is one of the worst things ever though.
Whilst I love Screamadelica there is one problem with it: the version of "Come Together" included on the album isn't the best one. On the UK version of the "Come Together" CD single there is a 7 inch version which is a gorgeous song (with Bobby Gillespie on lead vocals and with a gospel choir on backing vocals) that wouldn't sound at all out of place on "Screamadelica". Unfortunately, I don't think the UK CD single is available any more (it was hard to find even when Creation Records were still in business) and it isn't even mentioned in the discography on the band's website.
However, there is a 7-track import "Come Together" CD single (which I think is from the USA) there is a Farley mix which is very similar to the 7 inch version but is even better because it starts with the gospel choir singing acapella, after a few bars a piano is added and after a few more bars the familiar laid-back groove comes in. I paid £7.99 for the single and it was worth it for the 8 minute Farley mix alone. On the same import there's also a Farley mix of "Loaded" which is similar to the Weatherall mix but features quite a bit of BG's vocals from "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have".
So, Cartographer's Girlfriend, if the only version of "Come Together" you've heard is the one on "Screamadelica" you should try to get hold of the import I've mentioned.
i have an mp3 of the original version of come together. it's a mellow rock song without all the gospel choir stuff and the beats. kinda dreamy, a song to relax to rather than dance to. i liked that version, but i don't know where you'd find it officially on a cd. really interesting version cuz it shows you how different a song can sound when it's not remixed and tinkled with.
Bobby was better in his element when he was drummin' for the Jesus and Mary Chain, me reckons.....a male version of Mo Tucker, no less! 
Not a massive fan.....but Screamadelica is a classic! And Star from around 97 is one of me favourite singles by any other band, Xtrmntr was pretty good an all!
I actually met Bobby G before New Order came on stage at the Ally Pally New Years Eve gig, he was with Noel Gallagher - said it was good to meet him, told him I was a Celtic fan - he said he loved Celtic (as does Gallagher) and was looking forward to seeing a great gig by New Order - pity John was in the bog with the camera

According to Tower Records' website a "Come Together" CD single is available (and I think it's the same as the 7-track one I've got) but they are low on stock. Either search their site for Primal Scream or click on the link below (which I hope works) for the page on the item in question.

Right you are fingers, that 7-track single is the US version, and one of the best values in buying music I've ever come across (got mine for 4 dollars when it came out).

ya know, i hadn't spotted which parts bobby sang on on rock the shack until a month ago. it's so similar to barney's at times, i was thinking, i can't hear bobby gillepsie on this track!
i think he did a fine job. just a matter of taste i guess.

To answer your question in a roundabout way (sorry, I forgot that it's a British figure of speech and that road junctions in the USA have traffic lights or flyovers rather than roundabouts), there were three tracks on the UK CD single of "Loaded": the 12" Weatherall Mix of "Loaded", the live version of "Ramblin' Rose" and "I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have". There were only two tracks on the UK CD single of "Come Together": the 7-inch Farley mix of the track and the version on the album (which was released after the single). However, if I remember rightly the 12-inch Farley mix of the track was on the A-side of the UK 12" vinyl version of the single with the album version on the B-side (but I'm not sure because I have only got the CD singles).
So, Cartographer's Girlfriend, if you buy the 7-track import as well as getting all the non-album tracks from the UK CD singles "Loaded" and "Come Together" you also get a 7-inch Weatherall mix of "Loaded", a Farley mix of "Loaded" and the 12-inch Farley mix of "Come Together", none of which were released on CD in the UK. I doubt anyone can post anything more to persuade you that the single is a classic and a bargain. Buy it - you won't regret it.
whoa! that seems like a lot to remember. besides, i never really buy singles. looks like i'll just download them instead cuz if it's a uk version of anything, looks like i have to pay import prices. :\ohwell:

I saw them at the time of Gentle Tuesday, BG had just left JAMC and being replaced by a Beatbox. It was a cracking concert and I really like them back then, then they decided to become the new Rolling Stones and what not and we parted amicably.
