They played Gotta Get Away on the radio yesterday and I was reminded how much I love that song and just about everything else on the Smash album. Anybody else agree?

The Offspring are well known throughout the known universe Pat, fear not. Using a tedious point of reference, if the Springers where stood at the south pole, then musically, the order would be at the north. Only you know why you like the Spring Loaders Patsy, and perhaps, only you can work out why.
You must step into the cave Pat, you must face yourself. You know what's in there... I'll be right here, sat on a small stone with a stick in my hand near R2.
When you come out, hopefully, the old Pat will have had his head knocked clean off by yourself and the more powerful Pat will be out the other end with a better and slightly different coloured sword-type machine weapon.
Yes, Huntsy, I recognize that the Offspring and NO are somewhat different in their music. That was why I wondered if anyone else here shared my tastes. And I'm not ashamed.
Yes, Nicolas, absolutely those count. Self-Esteem is one of the numerous gems from Smash, which is just one goodie after another. Why Don't You Get a Job is later, after they'd had their big success with Smash, but it's good. I'm delighted to hear you like those.

I somehow pressed on the last on the page link. Then i kinda became curious where the usual cast of characters became involved.
Didnt the offspring have a song name"dracula castle" or was it the misfits. This is gonna bother me.

As DC constantly reminds us, Huntsman is from Marske, which is somewhere in England. I'm not an expert in English geography. To say that Huntsman is unique is a serious understatement.

The thing I've been listening to the most lately is Arcade Fire's Funeral.
I have yet to explore AF but what i heard is pretty good. I heard David Byne performs with them when they cover 'this must be the place' by talking heads at shows. Thats enough to command my respect not to mention Patrick liking them. With the exception of that rule being the offspring.

I went through a Talking Heads phase just before discovering NO. I saw Stop Making Sense about 12 times in theaters. The movie True Stories turned me against them, or at least against Byrne.
Interpol's first album was good, but the second one was disappointing.

Stop Making Sense is the best live rock'roll movie i ever saw. It turned me on to the Talking heads.

In a thread here a few months ago I posed the question, what is your all-time favorite music item ever by anybody? My answer to that question was I'm Set Free by VU.
I've never heard of Suicide. What are they?
Suicide is a band from nyc and its heydey was in the late 70's punk scene. They are two person band and propably were the precursor to what some call electro-punk now. They actually opened for Joy Divison. Also, in some article i read (cant remember)Barney claims them as influence in the direction that NO went in.
They have been gaining popularity lately as a book about them has been release. It features people like Michael Stipe, Bono, and Deborah Harry.

Film 2003 with Huntsman and Guests
It's a long read but there's some quality material in the middle acts, especially.
It's also a little tough to read these threads now because it seems that the NOOL formatting has changed and the quotes and smilies are all merged into the posts.

I did get that album, but my recollection is that it was so uneven that I didn't listen to it very much.
As I recall, one interesting thing on the Loaded special edition was an early version of Satellite of Love.
the best line i've ever heard about the Offspring was when somebody said about their first album that The Offspring were like a punk version of the band Boston... take that as you will but i found that very fitting and funny
