These guys played FAC251 last night at like 1am.

No idea who they are... but helped them unload their gear. Couldn't watch em though as I was working my ass off carrying crate after crate of various boozes up all those stairs. That place needs a lift.

I saw them live last week. Had an open pad about them, but after about three songs i gave up. Sounded like a cross between JD and the Smiths, and were poor, i thought. Lead singer pranced about like Mozzer too.

This song shows their influences even more. Not terribly interested in the band so far IMO. They are like The Stokes in that they are a smart imitation of past influences, but do they add anything? Do The Strokes add anything?

I like them, but I think they've got to improve before they match their talk. I Felt Stupid is pretty good though.

'I Felt Stupid' is the most infectious slice of perfect pop I've heard in ages. I've got very high hopes for the album. They played Glasgow on Friday night but I was out of town. Had mates who went to the gig (NME Tour) and said they were the stand out act. Not that hard I suppose when the main competition is Bombay Bicycle Club (pish!).

Evening/morning is a class song though, otherwise they are beyond wank. The 'bassist' used to be in Byker Grove too!

I think the biggest influence I can hear, in 'I Felt Stupid' at least, is The Cure. I wouldn't hold that against them though. And they're much more than their influences anyway. Not fair to pigeonhole them. That video is well G.A.Y. innit?

Dunno how long they've been going. 6Music have been caning 'I Felt Stupid' since about November though. That's where I first heard them. Saw the EP it came from in HMV the other day. £5.99 well spent even though I'd already shelled out for the digital version.

Thoughts on the new Los Campesinos! album Dave? A few too many noisy fillers for my liking so far, though I've only properly listened to it about 4 times. 'The Sea Is A Good Place To Think' is possibly the best thing they've ever done mind you.

Bombay.. i really should like them, but there's always something which is missing, something did stupid and pissy.

I saw em the other night in Toon on the NME Brats tour. Went really early doors to see em especially after liking 3 of their songs. A few mid 80's indie vibes spring to mind, along with Jasmine Minks/Felt (for some reason)! Other 2 bands were shite, but the Maccabees were jolly enjoyable, that 2nd lp of theres does grow (after youve ignored the early James vibe)cor they even covered an old Poscard Records classic 'Rip It Up' to my pleasure. (make u feel old Hibster)!

Some well crafted music here, it reminds me a tad bit of the Ocean Blue. Really like "Don't be a jerk Jonny" and "Saddest summer".

listened to it a few times but nothing sunk in yet. a lot of the lyrics seem overly complicated & still to decide if that's a good ro a bad thing nothing jumping out at me the same way as you, me, dancing did scheduled to see them in bristol on their tour (sold out gig which is nice) but a genuine freakshow have announced a date the same day & really want to see them again...

They took a while to grow on me, but now I'm addicted. I've seen the "Exciting" video to I felt stupid over 100 times now. Worth seeing live from what I see on youtube.

Saw them play a totally free gig at The Flowerpot in Kentish Town, London around last September. They made us wait for ages before they came on, but were good when they did. Their opening song that night, "Best Friend" is now due to be their next single. And rightly so, it's pretty darn catchy. It's the first track to come from their forthcoming 2010 album. The Fly magazine and NME have suggested that they sound like a Factory records artist, if Factory had been based in a Sunny part of the USA instead of Manchester. Their 7 track "Summertime EP" made it into NME's best albums of 2009, and rightly so. At around a fiver it's well worth grabbing. And of course "...Surfing" made it in to lots of Festive 50 type tracks/singles lists of '09. The only downside of their live gig really was that they have lot of backing track stuff on an ipod "operated" by the drummer. And the two female backing vocalists seemed to be mimimng to some of the female vocal bits (and the whistling). Go see them at the NME tour currently on in the UK, where they share the bill with The Big Pink, Bombay Bicycle Club and Maccabees. (Brixton Academy Feb 20th)

I love the Drums fans. Magical indeed.

quite like them. Singer and guitarist were in Elkland, which has one brilliant disc of electro-pop-dance heaven. I had wished Elkland didn't break up as I had high hopes after the one disc, but honestly I quite like the Drums, perhaps more than Elkland.

Just heard Best Friend(Olympic mix) and Instruct me, two lovely tracks. I think I'll purchase both the EP and album now. Good stuff.
