Not sure what the occasion is, but the expanded editions of Ride's albums have finally been added to Amazon.com's MP3 store today (the US store, anyway).
Time to repurchase all those CDs I traded in...

only dug out the original cd of nowhere & stuck it on my ipod the other day, listened to it on way up to manchester for the factory 251 thing
I know more than a few people in their late 30s/early 40s who will still swear blind that Ride are the best band in the world ever, and that amateurs like The Beatles or the Stones can't hold a candle to them.
The moral of this story is: Just Say No, kids.
I have 1 EP by them...Today Forever.
And I also have a track called 'Sad Song(Between Uncertainty)' that their singer did guest vocals on.

I agree they were pretty fantastic for a couple of albums. However, I find it very difficult to think about them without it conjuring up the mental image of Rob Newman doing his painfully accurate impression of "Mark from Ride" stoned-to-the-point-of-lethargic-oblivion.
Anyway, as the topic of shoegazing has been raised if gives me an excuse to post this picture again, because....
...not only does the bassist on the right (ex-Felt) look like a young Rob Newman, the drummer (RIP) also looks uncannily like our own Chris Nash.
However, I admit I was always more of a Slowdive kinda guy....
...or, more specifically, I was (and, frankly, still am) in love with Rachel Goswell....
yeah i was gonna say Slowdive.Was more into them at the time than Ride. Though i tried listening to some of their stuff recently and it now sounds gash

Ah, Rachel Goswell! 
I went through rediscovering shoegazing bands due to Ulrich Schnauss (who also remixed one of Rachel's solo songs), as he often displays a good deal of shoegazing influences, interspersed with lots of lovely synths...
In fact, he's collaborated with basically everybody from the shoegazing scene - Mark Gardener, Rachel Goswell, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, etc, etc...
As for Ride, themselves, I remember the song "Leave Them All Behind" - went to see them at DeMontfort Hall in Leicester back in 1991/92 (?) - about the time that the album came out (can't remember it's name off the top of my head?). Went to the album signing at the time, but sold it recently to fund a holiday! :p

Agreed, Schnauss is very good. Also very good are the wondrous Mojave 3, featuring ex-members of Slowdive and Chapterhouse. Rachel, of course, remains (what the kids would call) a total gorge.
