has anyone seen much about this film? It features Oasis, Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain and many other bands that were on the label. Some quality Noel Gallagher interviews in the trailer!

Did everybody know that, apart from Oasis, the ONLY OTHER CREATION ACT to have a number one album was - NOT Primal Scream, but........

Easy to forget how successful the ex-shoegazers were just for a brief while.....in fact they were the ONLY band ever that were in any way connected with the shoegazing scene that had a No. 1 at all!!!!

Ah fuck it's that ultra conservative boy band Oasis on now. As if they were ever better or more talented than Jesus And Mary Chain or House Of Love

Eh? you watched the documentary and decided you didn't like any of the bands? Rubbish, absolute rubbish i reckon you were one of the rioters at the North London poly gig JAMC did in 85, go to 3.25 in this clip and you can be spotted quite clearly . Madness were on Stiff, the label with the best ever strap line..... If it Int Stiff, it ain't worth a fuck.

Specials had their own label 2 Tone, then signed to Chrysalis. Rough Trade may have done 2 Tone's distribution?

yeah r trade did a lot of distribution for other labels

Good film & great to see Dick Green get overdue recognition rather than McGee continually grab all the headlines.

If you're into this kind of stuff you maybe interested in a new documentary on Lawrence from Felt/Denim fame. Lawrence of Belgravia. Was shown at the BFI this week, I went with Leggy. He's a very odd man Lawrence that's all I'll say.

Had a drink with the film's maker Paul Kelly afterwards, sound lad who made a couple of Saint Etienne flicks a few years back, also ace. He's trying to get outlets for it - Glasgow film festival in Dec is the next showing. Well worth a viewing or as Lawrence might say 'what's your Internet number?'

Hated Ride as well - they were so blank [ha!], and just so.........pedestrian. Pale Saints pissed all over them!

And I do agree with you about Wake Up Poo! It's just cringesome! It was a one off cos they never did anything like that again - they went apeshit with C'mon Kids..........And lost all of their Wake Up audience too, which, depending on how you look at it was either commercial suicide or a stroke of genius.

Everything's All Right Forever and Giant Steps are still them at their best though.
