You're probably right. I do worry, however, that some of our brothers across the pond might not understand the subtle allegorical coding of Steve Bell's work. His characters are goats and elephants, after all.

Yer right, not getting the humor in this at all, but nice to see that I'm in your thoughts with such love.
I could drone on about how the US military is the most humane fighting force in the history of man or how they operate within the most stringent ROE's in recent memory or how tens of billions of dollars have been spent on precision munitions.
But, I won't. It's always a tragedy when innocent lives are lost in the course of war. The difference is the United States does it's best limit those.
You know, Uncle Joe used to say something to the effect that a single death is a tragedy but a million deaths is a statistic. The United States does not operate that way. Oil or no oil, it would be so easy to turn vast parts of the Middle East into self illuminating, glass topped parking lots. But, we don't.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, people expect everything to have perfect precision and accuracy, and that all engineering will never fail. People for the most part are really out of touch, they think civilized society is a norm (and mandatory right), and that chaos is the exception. Quite the other way around, but not something people will accept.
There are a few jobs out there that people believe they can be experts on from their armchair... waging a war is definitely on that list... and most people know fuck all...
