Well my friends...I'll start at the beginning.....

Our eager, nail-biting, wait finally came to an end on a stifling hot Saturday night, 17th August at 11.23pm when our second little bundle of joy popped into view to ecstatic cries of elation and relief from both of us.... Me an' Charley just collapsed in tears of euphoria as little baby Thomas Aidan Mickle - weighing 8lb 2oz and blessed with a little downy quiff all of his own - roared his dear little heart out and already began to display the makings of a kick-boxer with some furious legwork as we tried to take turns to cradle the dear bairn lovingly to our bosoms.....

....Needless to say our little Amy (honoured to be granted a special late night) was delighted and over the moon - skipping around the ward in a state of near delirium, bless her... :)

I stopped over much of the night with Charley whilst my mum and sister took care of an eventually very sleepy and exhausted Amy by taking her back to theirs for the night....

As you can expect much of today (Sunday) likewise, was spent at the ward making sure things were ticking along nicely and that Charley and the bairn were in good shape. I'm so grateful and relieved that everything went so smoothly and according to plan - no hitches at all.... the folks at the hospital were lovely an' all - offering all their support and that... I'm so happy I could start blubbing again any minute...

So here I am - back home (Charley and Thom should be out by later tomorrow all being well) and finally gettin' around - after more beers than usual of course - to postin' up the news.....and screw me if I'm so knackered I need ta get to bed straight away - havin' had virtually nish all sleep the past 36 hours!

Two Boys and Two Girls..... things could not be more perfect at the moment.......oh boy....! :) :) :)

AWWWWwww.. Thanks everybody for your kind words - love t' ya all likewise!! :) :)

Just better clarify the confusion in case any of you folks think I've suddenly become inundated with lickle Mickle offspring runnin' amok aal o'r th' hoose........ the heading of this thread is just a play on words - it doesn't suggest that I now have FOUR kids !! Heaven forbid (well for the time being!)... the "four" is actually referring to the total in our family - that's two girls - me partner Charley and our little girl Amy ("Gemmi"), and two boys - our new arrival, dearest little Thom, and myself! So that's two happy boys and two happy girls!! Geddit?? Sorry for that slight misunderstanding....!

But yeah - it's been frantic the past coupla days that's for sure - good that I've now got a few days off work too... luckily I have a bit of a break noo so I can give ya's a little update on how things are - Charley and Thom got back here earlier today after being discharged from the ward... and one of the warders was so kind as to make sure they were comfortably settled back in... Charley herself is fine - she's pretty exhausted from the last couple of days - both of us barely had any kip the past 48 hours! As for Thom, he is fast aleep at the moment - I just checked him over a little bit about an hour and a half ago... he's cosily tucked up in his little crib and our Amy keeps runnin' into the nursery to take a peek cos she's so excited about it all... it's all so sweet .... an' I'm so relieved there weren't any hitches. I'm gannin' about on tiptoes all the time cos when ya get your new 'un settled in, you still have to treat everything like they're fragile an' made of eggshells.

Mind you, even decidin' on the name was unbelievably tough! We really were going to settle for "Adam" as his middle name but thought "Aidan" sounded a little better and slightly less over-used - besides, it has a Celtic ring to it so that can't be too bad - I even discovered it's a variant of "Hugh" which is a funny coincidence. I think one thing we decided on was that each of us should have one name beginning with "A" - so now we've pulled it off: my first middle name is Adrian, Charley's first name is Amanda, Gemmi's proper name is Amy - so there you go! I've heard that having a name beginning with "A" is regarded as lucky and fortuitous... but we had to leave behind two other names for Thom that we couldn't make our minds up on - Bradley and Vernon - we couldn't have them both and we couldn't decide which of the two would go better with Thomas Aidan, so in the end we had to drop them - but knowing Charley and myself, we may yet amend the Birth Certificate and add one or both of them back in once we get round to the Christening!!

Hey Hubey, I saw something on the news about a father in England who made a punk rock cd for his newborn to listen to, instead of the usual shit. I thought of you when they aired that piece......

Interesting idea my friend - I think I may well just do that... but the trouble is - where exactly do I start?! I suppose I could always begin with Madness or somethin' like that - appealin' to kids an' stuff - before gradually crankin' it up to somethin' heavier an' more raucous... But then ageen - my Charley might well have other ideas!

hey, i thought this was a different thread. i guess the 2 girls and 2 boys title was a bit confusing, huh mickle?

as for punk rock for kids, isn't that a bad influence on them? i mean, you don't want to breed rebellion and green hair too soon! no, seriously, good idea. i suggest just putting the kids in a room with all your favourite cds (with the linear notes hidden of coarse. you don't wanna get them grubby!:nono: ), and they'll eventually get bored enough and i wanna listen to your music. oh yeah, teach them how to use a cd player. i wouldn't try this with cassettes or vinyl, since they're not as durable as cds. that happened to me as a kid. i listened to my parent's music for three hours cuz i was bored. not very good music though, just a lot of bad 70s pop music and chinese opera!:nonono:
