17 POINTS AND THIRD IN THE PREMIERSHIP NOO!! ABOVE THOSE PREENIN' POSEURS MAN UTD. TOO!! WOOOOO-HOO!!! Look out Highbury an' Anfield - the boys from the Riverside are comin' up from behind ta steal ya thunder!!! (Hopefully!)

:jump: :jump: AYE..... THE BORO BOYS DONE GOOD THIS TIME ROOND!!

2-0 against Bolton today - can't be bad!

I cannat believe the run of luck the Boro have had this season, so I thought I'd better tear meself away from parental duties just ta post this one-off footie-related topic here just ta piss off the Aad Grey Hac Man in particular (Leeds? where da fook are they these days?? :D :D )... Last week it was 3-0 as we skinned the Spurs where they stood (thanks to sterling performance from man o' the match Alen Boksic!).

And now with gems like Massimo Maccarone (love the name!) on board - 4 goals from the fine man in 8 games so far!! - I'd say that was £8.1 million well spent.

It appears the team's fortunes have been well an' truly resurrected by the wealth of talent imported from abroad!

This is ecstatic manager Steve McLaren speaking for the North East Echo earlier today (Saturday)...

"The most pleasing thing is the progress the club has made. It's in far better shape now than it was when I first walked through the door...."There's always pressure, whether you're trying to get out of the bottom three as we were last year, or whether you are trying to stay in the top three..."Whatever happens, I want to be regarded as one of the best managers in the game - but there's still a long way to go..."

Well, after witnessing Massimo's brilliant work on the pitch of late, who am I to disagree.....?

FOUR unbeaten home games so far this term....fooking champion or what??

Coming soon:

20 October: Away vs Charlton; 26 October: Home vs Leeds United (Aad Grey Hac Man - be on yer guard) 4 November: Away vs aad nemeses the Magpies (St James Park - let's trash the place!)...

Tonight's result calls for a further night's drinkin' with quietly reckless abandon....hic...hic!

They don't look a bad starting eleven. Schwarzer seems o.k. you have A good solid centre half pairing . Boateng has a fair amount of ability and Boksic is as wily as they come. Not seen much of Maccoroni he seemed to have a poor game yesterday but must be doing something right. Is Greening the left back ex Man Utd? Still it's early days and I don't have much faith in Juninho. It'll be interesting to see how they respond to the inevitable bad results. How's the squad depth look?

Thing is - I tend ta take Middlesbrough's mixed fortunes with the usual pinch o' salt cos, they're not been THAT spectacular these past few years - which is why ya never see me bangin' on an' on about them on the forums.... but at least they've been consistently determined and got on with honing their squad slowly but surely into the formidable config. we currently have noo!

Obviously recruitin' some foreign blood has injected some much-needed balls (if ya pardon the pun) into the team so that seems to have paid off handsomely. And let's not forget Gareth Southgate - veteran of THAT pissed-away opportunity back in 1996! ;) I think he's definitely learned from his mistakes!

As for myself - well I was quietly goin' barmy in the comfort of my own livin' room last neet..... cos havin' FOUR straight home wins is some fookin' achievement even by our humble standards... I think I got the reet attitude aboot all this - expect next ta nothin' for much of the time, and then prepare ta be pleasantly blaa'd away by the unexpected!! :)

Congratulations to the BORO

I remember being down to the old stadium fer Mowbray's testimonial a good 10 year ago. Things have changed a wee bit since then matey:D

One of my best mates Sy has been a season ticket holder fer a few years, and when his dad died a couple of years ago, you's held a minutes silence before a premiership game fer him. This year he hasnae got a season ticket.....and what happens? Ye's are winning all yer games and are 3rd in the league:lol: I told him in the pub last night, to stay well away, and ye's might have a chance, enjoy it while it lasts me ole compadre....and fer your sake and Sy's, I hope it lasts a lot longer:beer:

Good for you then Hubert, Spurs certainly played their worst match of the year against 'em a couple of weeks ago, but Boro have done very well so far.
