what are you watching now?

Ah just watched again. Think in my drunken state thought Gruff Rhys ( as it turned out to be, thanks) was talking French in the advert.And there were French subtitles.Is the Portishead rip off one on the soundtrack? I keep expecting the drums to come crashing in like they do on the Portishead song.

La Horde wanted Adele and her baby ( and someone else? can't remember now.Oh, Toni and his bro in the basement) but didn't get them. Would the town still have been flooded had La Horde got all they wanted? Who knows.

The ending was fairly satisfying for me, quite climatic.A few unanswered things but there always is. C'est La Vie.

I just grabbed a listen to the album on Spotify.Not sure really.It's lovely and spellbinding in places but there's actually only a few tracks i recognised😕 The intro music and the last track to name a couple.As i've found with other soundtracks it's just not the same listening to the music in its own right.Spotify includes the Portishead rip off one which is The Huts - Version which doesn't seem to be listed on the tracklist on Amazon so may not be on your vinyl copy? You just get The Huts ? Don't think i'll buy the album but will prob listen again on Spotify.

New Dr Who will be revealed at 7pm BBC1 on Sunday. Dunno why i'm mentioning it as i'm not that fussed about Dr Who anymore anyway😕 Though i see Peter Capaldi is now in the (rumoured) running.That'd get me watching again over any of the other candidates

The BBC player isn't available to me in my location, watching it last night what struck me is that you never get to see what their hands are doing behind their desks, I know that Ralf is playing live keyboards at some stages but not sure what the other three machine workers are doing...

I had something like that problem before in Dublin. I can't remember if it was BBC player or something similar. I was asked for my post code so I gave a UK postcode and...bingo! But maybe that won't work for you, I don't know.

I was also thinking it would be nice to see their hands, and I wondered if we weren't seeing them because it's a bit of a charade.

That's interesting about the postcode trick.. Now I am watching Das Auto on BBC2, featuring musik by Kraftwerk amongst others. Volkswagon are planning to be the worlds leading car manufacturer by 2018..

Eh? No that thing imagining Malcolm Tucker as Dr Who was pasted from The Guardian.It wasn't my creation. I just posted it because i thought it was hilarious but then deleted it because that was 2 posts i'd now made regarding Dr Who and it was starting to look like i was a Dr Who fan.Which i am NOT. Saw Danny Boyle's Trance at the weekend. Bloody good film, though a little confusing at times.

Not sure I'm convinced by James McAvoy in these types of roles though. Same also for Welcome to the Punch earlier this year where he was an on-the-edge maverick cop with a death wish. He's playing the lead in Irvine Welsh's Filth soon too - really, really can't picture him in that role at all after reading the book years ago. Will be interesting to see.

i thought 'trance' was truly terrible, although i can't remember why. oh yes, really REALLY good first two-thirds, and then it just descended into convoluted nonsense, didn't it? much like boyle's 'sunshine', actually. so frustrating.

anyway, i just wanted to say i like doctor who (the last series WAS shockingly bad, mind), and i think peter capaldi is a smashing choice. desperately sorry to see matt smith go, though - his performance was practically perfect in every way. i could wank on for ages about sci-fi in general and doctor who in particular, but i can't imagine anyone wants to see me get my geek on so i'll leave it at that.

I liked it but [SPOILER]the fact that the guy we were meant to be rooting for (McAvoy), turned out not to be the good guy[/SPOILER] meant that there was a slightly hollow vibe at the end. But if you can watch it with a sightly detached approach then, yeah it's a fun ride.

I dont get much of a chance to sit down and watch tele but I did watch Stone Roses live at Blackpool on Virgin demand last night whilst ironing. Good performance that and a band that will never age.

Also finally saw the remaining episodes of series 3 of Mad Dogs. Yes its a load of nonsense but its entertaining nonsense and has a great cast.

Had a catch up session today/ tonight of Top Of The Lake. In total , 5 hours of viewing including tonight's episode. Pretty good series but starting to think all in one catch up sessions are not a good thing. Each episode ends up under digested and enjoyment of the series is slightly diluted .

On NetFlix Archer. Caught a bit of Hell On Wheels, a violent show about building the railroad in post Civil War American West. May watch that again.

I like Hell on Wheels. It's a bit dumbed down in places and some of the stories can be weak but the concept is good. They've a lot of scope to play with - racial tensions between black and white, the Native Americans, North vs South, etc. Just a pity it isn't made my the likes of HBO else it could be a lot harder hitting.

Same as Copper, which I think is BBC America? Nice idea in theory, but doesn't pull enough punches.

The Gatekeepers. Docu film about the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Beit. Couldn't get into it to be honest . Well made but a bit boring even if you're interested in the subject.

Shut Up And Play The Hits - docu music film about LCD Soundsytem's final concert.On Film 4+1 now. Haven't seen this before and throwing away the chance of an early night for a change to watch it so it'd better be good

Ah yes, this had a brief cinema release about a year ago. I bought the three-disc dvd of this a few months back. Still haven't watched it all. But what I have watched, I enjoyed. I caught LCD live four times in their all too brief career (well three times, plus a support slot for Daft Punk in Hyde Park 2007- it didn't feel like a proper LCD gig). I certainly never saw them play a 27 song set like they do on the DVD. At three and a half hours it's probably a little too long for a single gig, but it's a nice memento of a band that at times were just punk funk, and at times seemed to be touching on greatness.

It's a great doc, isn't it? Really enjoyed that. Regret now never seeing LCD live - it looked like a great, funky fucking party. But i thought James Murphy came across, i dunno, slightly more serious than i imagined he'd be somehow but he's great.Hadn't known their final gig was 4 hours long.Blimey.

Very sad bit in the doc was near the end when we see Murphy alone in a cellar the morning after the final gig with all LCD's equipment packed up.The only noise is the humming of electricity and he breaks down in tears at the realisation it's all over. He really agonised over that decision to end the band.One tough fucking decision.

Yeah, like you say, they at times seemed to be touching on greatness.
