I think I'm addicted to cleaning my ears out with cotton wool buds. After bathing or showering it's an automatic reaction for me to reach for one. It's not yet affecting my every day life but I did go out in a hurry recently and still had one in my ear whilst walking down the road. Fortunately it's easier to hide than a costly cocaine habit and there are no telltale needle marks like with heroine.

It could lead onto a more unstabilising high though. I remember Bobby Gillespie commenting in the NME about the time of Screamadelica that going to get his ears syringed was a bigger high for him than his legendary drug use. Hopefully it can't lead onto thinking Give Out But Don't Give Up is a good record and let's not mention Rock The Shack

You should never underestimate the joy of having your ears syringed.

A strangely arousing experience....

I've heard that colonic irrigation is also a pleasurable experience. Major ?

I probably should have that done judging by the huge lumps of wax i get out of my ears. I was having a maths exam the other day and whilst pondering a difficult question I stuck my little finger in my ear and had a good poke around. I ended up with a blob of orange wax the size of ayers rock on my finger and i had to wipe it under the desk...

I also am a constant cleaner of the ears Hank. Nothing feels better after a shower than a Q-Tip in the ear. I usually go thru 3 or 4. The first two to actually clean, the second 2 to try and hit that little G spot that seems to exist in there. ONe day I had it goin pretty well, next thing I knew my leg was shakin' like a dog gettin his belly scratched..... :rolling:

I think a doctor told me once that cleaning your ears with cotton sticks is actually bad for your ears and could result in injury or deafness. I am not joking, is there not a doctor in the house who could clarify this?

yes, i do believe this is true. i used to work in a doctor's office, and they warned me about prodding around in there with a little too much vigour--it could damage your ear drum.

i had my ear syringed out once when i was working there--had a big build-up of yucky wax, you know--and i felt terribly, terribly violated afterwards. maybe it was just me....

I get feelings of "phantom wax" sometimes, where I'd swear my ear's full of it but nothing shows up on the cotten end. Very disturbing.......

Anyone remember John Cusack trying to off himself with Q-tips in "Better Off Dead"? There's some serious cotten abuse in that scene.

Does it hurt? I may need to have my left ear syringed in preparation for RETRO and I am a bit wary of doctors pouring hot water through my ear.

Q-Tips? Is this one of those everything's bigger in America things? I'm thinking having a snooker cue sticking out of your ear has gotta be slightly conspicuous.

I think the best way to 'clean ones ears out'.....is too stand naked in a bowl of soapy water, shove you thumb up your arse and blow your honker!

i had my first inner-ear infection a few years ago. i thought i was going to die. i wanted to stick a pin in my ear, pop my ear drum and release the hot, green pus that was building up inside my head--the pain was unbearable. instead, i holed up inside my room with a nice supply of antibiotics and very strong prescription painkillers and slept for a few days until i emerged out the other side of hell. i can't even imagine what babies go through when they get ear infections. jesus.
