TV shows that should leave the building.....

There comes a time in every TV show's life where the writing starts to suffer, the plots get recycled, every possible "couple" has been made and discarded, or it just plain sucks and is a waste of space on a network schedule. What, then, are the TV shows that you feel should be taken out into the back alley for garbage detail? I got two:

  1. Friends: Give it a rest already. Unless you're planning on finally giving in to Ross and Rachel hooking up (AGAIN!), stop it already. I watched twon minutes of Ross and this other guy sitting uncomfortably on the couch before realizing I was watching "Friends". Put a cork in her, she's done.

  2. Fraiser: My god, this show used to be really good, and I always thought the sexual tension between Frasier and Niles was a potent plot device :D. Alas, the show has sucked like a sour Jolly Rancher since Niles and the English nurse hooked up (she and all the Englsih characters give a bad name to Manchester as well). There's too many "zany situations" followed up by "very special"s like where Niles has cancer or something. please, kill this show, Kelsey Grammer has been playing this snobby asshole for too damn long.

Anyways, that's my picks...

Law & Order...

I used to love this show...now I can't even be arsed with watching the new episodes...Briscoe should shoot that fairly new partner of his in the back, and campaign to bring Mike (Chris Noth) back...

but even so, it's better than about 75% of the shite on TV...

also...South Park...it ain't funny anymore...

Not sure about Friends, it's one of the only TV shows that can easily make me laugh, even when I'm watching it alone.

It's supposed to be the last year, I hope it's not, though there isn't many new things to plot, the only thing left would be for Joey to hook up with Pheobe (sp?).

Frasier was something I liked to watch too, stopped a year and a half ago, when I started dating my girlfriend.. don't remember why exacly, but it's more or less because she doesn't listen to english stuff at all (so I have to see movies in their french dub.. )

so does this mean she don't listen to the order???

completely agree with you about Frasier, taboo. its time to go. I havent watched a new episode in like 2 yrs. Cant really think of any others that have passed their prime.....how about 60 minutes?? :D

No she's not.

She's either listening to darker stuff than I have, or very very light french stuff.

Very very weird musical tastes, she's probably the only fan of the band named the Cruxshadows.. :D

And she's tired of me listening always the same stuff in the car.. ;)

Why wait for the lengthy decline for this nominee? I'd go with the Anna Nicole show; it started off really bad, and hasn't gotten any better, if that's possible.

Weirdest scene: a man is trying to explain the mission behind the mideastern suicide terrorists to her, and Anna is completely baffled by that. He then suggests to her that she should speak out on behalf of the Israelis to the press. She looks at him horrified, with a look of utter disgust, and says "I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one. I don't know nothing about anything". :nonono:

How about, let's say, EVERY SITCOM!!!!!!!! I hate them all! The only television show I can watch regularly is the Simpsons and I know I'm not alone! C'mon. How ridiculous are American sitcoms?

I used to like Drew Carey Show but they should've called it quits years ago.

That is one of my all-time favorite sites! I thought about titling this "TV Shows That Jumped The Shark" but was worried about copyright infringement :D

I don't know how shows like even stay on the air. It's an embarrassment. I can just see a bunch of hip, we-decide-the-new-cool, Hollywood execs sitting around dicussing the creation of this show...

Portly CEO: We need something new for the 8pm slot. Market research shows that while the reality TV craze is still in with the 18-32 demographic, sitcoms are still hip. Any ideas?

3rd Assistant Senior Vice President: Well, if we could just create something that's exactly like everything else that's out there...

Chief 2nd Assistant Marketing Director: How about a Dopey Husband/Overly Emotional Wife Combo? People can never seem to get enough stereotypes!

Portly CEO: Brilliant! Three Million Dollar Bonuses for all board members! (Applause and hearty laughter heard throughout the room.)Thompson, go fire everyone in accounting! Well, I need to hit the oxygen bar before going to my aroma-enhanced Shiatsu appointment. I'll be on vacation for the next 7 weeks, take care!

re Anna Nicole Smith saying about mideast politics "I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one. I don't know nothing about anything". - that's probably the smartest thing she'll ever say.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I have to say I really wanted to like 'Andy Richter Controls the Universe', but it has been lame. When is Fox going to figure out that they are only good for animation ? Matt Groening needs to be Program Director, 24/7/365.

my favorite show of all-time is The Simpsons, but they should have stopped around the time Phil Hartman died.

the seventh season was the last truly great one, in my opinion. 4, 5 & 6 are my favorites.

sigh.

Simpsons, friends, frasier... All agree.

Now if only Space Ghost would make some new episodes.

Friends has always been dire, I can't say I've noticed it being any worse (on the odd occasions when I forget to switch channel).

Frasier still has the occasional good one (or am I seeing an earlier series here?) like the one where he inadvertantly does his speech at his son's bar mitzvah in Klingon.

Anyhow, US telly has declined from its Seinfeld/Saunders peak, if you ask me.

I got bored with Frasier a few yrs ago. The Niles and what's her name thing was too drawn out. I never watched Friends or Everyone Loves Raymond, so they should go, too. I'd love to see the reality shows go bye bye.

I liked the original Star Trek and then The Next Generation, but all the other spin-offs have been utter shite. Both South Park and The Simpsons still have the odd good episode, but the majority of the new episodes pale in comparison to the earlier ones. I wish the David Lynch series that was supposed to flow from the "Mulholland Drive" pilot had gone ahead - the first half of the movie was great and set up many interesting plotlines. "Twin Peaks" remains the best TV series ever.

here's one: that new show 'am i hot?' or 'are you hot' or whatever the hell it's called. tragic. and most sitcoms--with very few exceptions they're just not how they used to be (note: cheers, MASH, both newhart shows).

all these damn reality shows and they're cancelling the glorious buffy the vampire slayer. :nonono:

Tsotsi, are you a trekker? Mail me then! I'd like to chat with you... I have yet to see Enterprise, is it as bad as it looks?

I think it's about time Ike Godsey left the shop in The Waldorfs and crafted his sit-com, probably called The Ike Godsey Show.

You could have a few bit-part semi-famous actors involved and a few specials with the guy out of Battle Beyond the Stars in an hour special.

Either way if Ike doesn't shift that bike his had on sale since 1932 for 6D I think I'll buy it myself.

You mean Robert Wagner? A serious note: I'm sure you noticed I took the liberty to edit your post in my quote but had the decency to left your smiley untouched...

Oh yea, why didn't I think of this immediately - Eastenders. Now if ever there was a program where they've run out of ideas and every possible coupling has been done and discarded its our tired old Albert Square soap. And I'm not speaking as a hard line "soap dodger", for a long while I actually rather liked that show (never could stand any of the other soaps though). But its just gotten so tediously repetitive (has every female character other than Peggy now had an affair with a Mitchell brother?) that I think they ought to call it a day.

I bet I'm in a tiny minority here in EVER watching it.

All TV shows are crap for old mummies and daddies.

Fuck T.V. its a fucking waste of time and of your life. What could be better than planning your life around a stupid show by vain actors and a constant bombardment of commercials. What a fucking waste! Kill your T.V.
