Does anyone know a site about the Smiths that is comparable to New Order Online? I searched for sites but didn't find anything as comprehensive as this site is for New Order. Help me out!

www.morrissey-solo.com

that site has a very active forum that is sadly occupied by Moz faithful. Some very good news about all things Smiths related though plus some excellent links including a trail that leads to a site tha offers complete Smiths Bootlegs to download 3 or 4 tracks at a time with CD art. I forget the exact chain of links to follow but you can find it.

www.mikejoyce.co.uk (or .com) i don't remember...he has/had a note saying he was going to offer Smiths sessions to download periodically but i never went back.

try the links from morrissey-solo, that's your best bet

Thanks, Biz. I can always count on you for quality. Appreciate it.

If there's one thing that has kept me from becoming a big Smiths fan, it's the existance of drippy Morrissey worshipers.

Amen Brutha! The Mozza Solo chat room is full of people sadder than ourselves....wait, that didn't come out right.

Okay, I got it now: Mozza Solo posters are sadder than star Trek nerds! oh, wait, that'll be SURE to offend people.

One more try: The Mozza Solo posters are sadder than Mr. T fans (there, no one will be offended!)

It's a bit hypocratic to stand in judgement of other fans of a particualar artist at another webstie when you yourself spend time on another band's website......but it sure is fun!

So in response to the original query, no, I don't know of any decent Smiths sites.

I'm talking specifically of the the types who go on and on about The Smiths and Morrissey, but will look at you all confused if you ask them about Johnny Marr. I sort of feel the same way about people who think Ian was some kind of god, and won't have anything to do with New Order or even acknowledge that Joy Division had other members.

Elvis and Michael Jackson worshippers are the worst though.

i have to say that i have never EVER encountered anyone on the moz-solo page who doesn't know about Johnny Marr. Ever. The oddest thing is people sticking up for Moz through the lawsuits...although Joyce and Rourke did agree to the terms before they started, the rhythm section of the Smiths helped define their sound as much as the jangly guitar...

I don't really go to the Morrissey solo site that often. I'm refering to people I know personally. A younger brother of a friend of mine honestly had no idea who the other members of The Smiths were...

So there you go.

Or, sadder than Monty Python obsessives even...you know, those who know the words to every single sketch backwards - and the "witty" songs. I never reckoned much of that bunch at all. overrated is the word .

Sadly, I am one of those......

"One day, lad, all this will be yours."

"What, the curtains?"
