Well, once I was a great fan of A-ha (in 1985-1987). Currently, I like Kylie's "I Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head", why could it be? Also I like A Flock Of Seagulls and PSB, but I'm not ashamed of this. Not musicaly, Avril Lavigne is very, very, very hot and beautiful. But her music sucks, sure!
Oh, I forgot saying that earlier than A-ha, I was a great Julio Iglesias' fan (1980 to 1984), can you sorry me? I was only 6 to 10 years old, and my grandmother used to bought me all his recordings. And I liked them a lot!
I've always been brave about my music, even back in high school when I was lugging my Bee Gees and Aerosmith albums to drafting and art class. I threatened to hit a guy with an Iron Maiden album that I was buying when he made fun of Careless Whisper by Wham that I had in the same stack.

Surely Careless Whispers was just George Michael?
Not so sure about Wham! - they made a couple of good pop songs, and most of the rest of them were just utter mince. But George Michael has made some excellent stuff, fine voice.
And Iron Maiden are good fun, Aerosmith are excellent...the Bee Gees are/were more patchy.

The band was pretty popular in a lot of the asian communities back then. You could usually find the CDS in the asian markets.
A lot of stuff I liked before high school is pretty embarrassing... I was into all the stuff in the teen pop scene around 1996-1998: Spice Girls, Hanson, Robyn, Ace of Base, Aqua, Cher (Believe), Celine Dion. And compared to BSB or Britney I think those artists aren't too bad, I still get out the discs once in a while when I need to be cheered up.
Some of the 80s stuff I like is considered pretty contrived, like the Bangles, and Cyndi Lauper. But both are original and esp. Cyndi never went along with what the public wanted her to do! Some of her records are very rewarding (1996's Sisters of Avalon, for example).
