What do you think?

We've given Iraq EVERY chance to end this war before it began. I'm definately not for this war, but in order to end it successfully, we can't compromise on our previous stance. Thanks George W. and Mr. Blair, really, thanks

What will be the outcome of a cease fire? Saddam can stay in power with 100,000 US and British troops in his country? I was against this war from the beginning, but a cease fire is not going to help anything. It wil only delay the process and in the end there will be more casualties. It's hypothetical anyway, because the US is not going to listen to the UN, whatever they decide.

since many foreign policy hawks are already aligning with liberals in protest against the war, something that didn't happen until the very end of the neverending vietnam conflict, i'm actually quite curious to see how this whole thing is going to pan out. let's just see how much deeper into ca ca we can get and how badly we can screw with the middle eastern balance of power and geopolitics.

ok, which 'iraqi dissident group' is going to 'lead iraq' after the war? the one the pentagon's been grooming or the one that's popped up in london which opposes the one the pentagon's been grooming? will iran be drawn into the conflict if it has to absorb iraqi refugees or on behalf of shi'ite islamist forces? if dubya allows turkish forces into northern iraq (kurdistan) will the kurds kill every last turkish solider as they've vowed to do? since aid for the ba'athist regime is coming in from jordan, iran and syria, will the US go great guns and attack there next? and once saddam hussein is removed from power, will there be a nice, kinder leader installed, kind of like ngo dien diem in vietnam who will then be taken out back and shot, along with the rest of his no-good family, by some of his pissed off countrymen? and who will the next baddy then be?

i'm not sure what a ceasefire would accomplish right now, anyway. the country is in limbo and there's no way the US would swallow its pride and pull out. no way. not unless this thing went on for years and years. i don't see that happening, but i'm still just sitting back waiting for the post-'war' hell to break loose. as are both many conservative and liberal policy analysts.

I think he's alive...engineers of their bunkers are really proud of them.

Now war has started, please, finish with him fast. Here in Spain things are going out of control...

As much as I want to see Saddam and his sons heads on a platter, they never should have went in the first place. After the Gulf War in 1991 if the US had supportted the Iraqi Opposition to Saddam like they promised they could have avoided all of this. Instead alot of people were massacred.

hmm. very well thought out and persuasive argument (note sarcasm).

objecting to the war in iraq does not necessarily make one a bleeding heart or a liberal. as i stated above, many conservative realist political theorists are opposed to the war for the very reason that it goes against american self-interest and will consequently erode those freedoms we hold dear.

if you support the war in iraq, that is your prerogative. however, please provide factual and historic evidence for your support rather than simplistic, vitriolic answers.

I refuse to get into a US v Aus name-calling situation, as it is a pointless exercise. I was responding to a provocative, jingoistic post which shows zero reasoning or debating, instead descending to sloganeering. If someone cannot enter into a civil, reasoned debate, they should rather say nothing at all. We all know by now that you only ever post to insult anyone who does not agree with American policies. Your childish, arrogant, bullyboy answer to my post exemplifies the exact attitude that I was addressing.

I certainly hope that you were gazing in the mirror when you composed your venomous diatribe. In addition, if you find honest disagreement to be insulting, perhaps a thicker skin may be in order.
