Actually, The Cure and Joy Division would come before New Order, and after New Order would be Depeche Mode, The Pixies, Oingo Boingo, The Faint, The Clash, Dead Can Dance, and then a bunch of minor faves like Sex Pistols, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Bauhaus, Dead Kennedys, U2, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Smashing Pumpkins, and then film composers in their own league like Danny Elfman, Angelo Badalamenti, Bernard Herrmann, et al.

Strawberry Switchblade.......now there's a name I haven't heard in a long while.....all I've got is their bittersweet debut (I think) 12" single of Trees And Flowers, with stellar backing from Roddy Frame of Aztec Camera plus Bedders and Woody from Madness....I hate the trees.........and I hate the flowers.........and I hate the buildings.....and the way they tower over meeeeee......... How many albums did they put out anyway?
Sorry to say, but the only B-52's show I saw was a tired affair indeed, on a bad night, but it still didn't deter me from being a fan, and Monster was a big favourite on the local college station back then.

I hate them both; they're so overrated it's unbelievable. The Strokes are especially bad - how did they ever get to be as successful as they are?

They're overrated, to be sure. But...they're also just a really dumb, fun band. Which is all they try to be anyway. It's the music media's fault that they had the label of "BEST ROCK BAND SINCE NIRVANA!" foisted upon them.
They are (by their own admission, and really - doing a video where they do nothing but drink with Bob Pollard reinforces this) just a rock band. They wear their influences on the sleeve proudly, and what you see is what you get.

I agree the Strokes are overrated, but the Stripes are awesome and deserve all the credit they deserve; they make awesome music.
I wonder if I'm the only human being (considering I AM a human being) in this planaet that either knows The Bolshoi and really like them.
I remember the Bolshoi, and know that they had a couple of records out, even some that were released in the US, but I can't exactly recall many other details about 'em. Weren't they a 3-piece band?

Only in the first album (85), then became a foursome. They had three albums- 85, 86, 87 - and a Best of (believe me, cause I have it!
). I think they were funny. IMHO, the best anti-band. The vocalist call themselves nowadays as "The best band that nobody’s ever heard of".
The weird is that Brazil is maybe the place where they were most sucessful.
