most desired reunion tour?

What band would you most like to see do a reunion tour?

For me, it would be Joy Division, then The Clash, then The Pixies, then Talking Heads. (At least there's still a sliver of hope for the last two.)

Part of me wants to see the Jam and Ultravox back together because I never got to see them before they split up. Both groups had acrimonious splits so I know they won't reunite, but then I'm glad it's that way because I need to remember them the way they were and how happy I was when they released new records.

oh, and I forgot Oingo Boingo. yeah, it could happen.... (sigh)

Seriously, though, the Smiths would be the top of the list. Would've loved to see the Who while Entwistle was still around. Not that they ever will, but a reunited Pink Floyd with Waters, Gilmour, Mason, and Wright would be cool. Talking Heads, the Jam, XTC, and the Stooges would round out the list.

Hmm... almost all the bands I like:

1. Smashing Pumpkins - D'arch doesn't have to be there, since anyone could play her bass parts.
2. The Cure - with the line-up from the Disintegration era. I know Robert Smith and Perry Bamonte play guitar now, but they aren't as good as Porl Thompson. And no Cure drummer has been as good as Boris Williams.
3. New Order - with Gillian. But I doubt they'll come to the states.
4. Metallica - before they sold out and needed a new bass player. But would it be a true reunion tour? Maybe a reunion with their old songs from, lets say, Masters of Puppets.

Yeah, that's for sure. Couldn't even handle a disco beat. But I agree that the Disintegration lineup would be sublime to see live. Boris should come back and replace Jason; he was the best. But Lol can go drown himself in drinks elsewhere for the reunion; if he couldn't be counted on back then, he shouldn't be now. Founding member or not, Roger can take over for him anyday.

And have you heard about the rumored reunion show with all the members who left the band? I guess they could let Lol do something with a keyboard over in the corner, but Boris has to be on drums instead of Andy. And OF FUCKING COURSE Porl has GOT to come back on guitar--he was the best guitarist they had.

i agree with you on The Cure - the Disintegration era lineup was definitely their best.

I heard about it from a friend of mine and then saw it on the Chain of Flowers website. It's still rumored apparently, but I kinda doubt they would do a full tour to the States with the reunion lineup. Maybe just a few shows, like that short festival tour they did this last summer. Unlikely they'd film it for another live DVD so soon. But this is just me thinking aloud. I have no idea if it will become a possibility or not. Hopefully they'll do a proper tour for their next album next year, since I haven't gotten to see them yet and the closest they came on their last tour was San Francisco.

They just signed a new 3-album deal, although how many of those will be studio albums is uncertain (they've been talking about a b-sides album). Yeah, they got one of those hideous "nu-metal" producers working with them now, and I guess what they've done thus far has sounded kinda industrial. So that should be interesting. Not like they haven't changed their sound before, right? At least it should be better than Wild Mood Swings. Oh, and Robert's solo album is supposed to come out eventually, but that thing's been in the works since about 1983, so who knows? But on a more certain note: ordered my Trilogy DVD today. Oh yeah! the Pornography album live....that's gotta be great.

Still, it'll probably good. I'm sure the new album will be good. I mean, Bloodflowers was a good return to form, and I'm anxious to hear what an industrial Cure sounds like.

And I think The Top's a good album. Not one of their very best, but still up there--and still better than Wild Mood Swings. I think I heard somewhere that in the studio Robert played all the instruments on that album except for the drums? I not sure on that, though. He'd gathered up the new lineup for the last few songs on Japanese Whispers (Speak My Language and Lovecats), the two songs on that album that weren't just Robert, Lol, and a studio drummer.

And as for Siouxsie (who sang backup vocals on 'I'm Cold' around this time), is it just me or does the Banshees song Swimming Horses (from the Hyena album that Robert played guitar on) sound suspiciously like Six Different Ways from the Head on the Door album that The Cure put out a year later?

Totally. I'm of the opinion that he WAS Depeche Mode. I mean, their albums actually started getting good after Alan joined...and then kinda pettered out after he left. Let's hope the next one is better.
