Just got through watching it. I was kinda disssapointed. When the singer got on stage I SWEAR actually wondered if it was Ian or an impersonator! He didn't look like Ian at all from what I remember, and all I could I think was "Is that Gary Oldman in a Fonzie jacket?" I mean why is he wearing shades in a dark-ass club holding a cigarette and wearing a Fonzie coat? Plus he sounded very hoarse at the beginning and it was just painfull to listen to him singing Rescue(which he barely got through) His high, Bob Smith-ish voice seems just about shot. But he did managed to redeem himself along the way with excellent renditions of The Cutter, Measure by Measure, Ocean Rain, and Killing Moon.
Also what's up with the stage lighting? Couldn't hardly see the band at all at times. They shoulda hired the guy who did the cure's gigs.
Brightspot was definitely Will's guitar playing. Hit nearly every note spot on and his guitar came across my speakers loud and clear! The lips like sugar breakdown sounded fantastic live! The boy's still got it!
Anyway what are your thoughts on this Liverpool gig?
