I stumbled upon the Ryanair website (no harm done) and they have some cheap flights if you book by monday for flights up to end of September. ie Brussels @£1.99 each way. I quite fancy taking Mrs Solitude away for a dirty weekend without the warring kids. I quite fancy going to Dublin, Milan, Brussels, Stockholm. We are open to suggestions. Where would you go?

I did a day-trip to Dublin for £0.02 on Ryanair a couple of years back. Mind you, it took a 160 mile round trip to Stanstead, and battling through hordes of Ipswich Town fans at Stanstead to even get onto the plane. I left home at 4am and got home at 11pm, and was completely f****d at the end of it.

2 pence and you're complaining??? Ahh Ipswich fans, my boy is alergic to them, he entered a schools fantasy football competition with the name I 8 Blue Scum. Oh the shame!
ehem, what´s Ryanair? 
where would i go?....... hmmmmm. europe, of course. all the capital cities if i may. i went to europe on 1984 and things might be a little different these days :D
from the countries i never went i´d really want to go to Moscow and St Petersbourg, Rome, Lisboa, Oslo, Athens, Budapest, Bucarest, Sophia and many more. and of course Manchester! i hope doing that trip one day.
I went to Brussels on Friday (return yday) on a cheapie (BMI Baby £40ish each).
Would well recommend Brussels and Brugges - totally fantastic places, though too many tourists ;)

Ryanair, you cannae go wrong. Well you can, they left our luggage at Stansted when it should have joined us in Stockholm.
Been to Dublin, Milan & Stockholm with Ryanair. Would rule out Milan, a commercial/industrial centre, similar to Brum without Robbie Savage. Dublin is good, Stockholm is quality. Airports tend to be 50 miles from the cities they pretend to fly to but there's always cheap transport laid on to take you into town.
And check-in is 40 mins before the flight. So don't do what I did & turn up 35 mins before, get turned away, fly 2 hours later for a £40 fee & end up in the middle of a field 3 hours from where I wanted to be. Grrr.

The story of being refused permission to travel, only to be allowed to at a later stage for an added charge, is a common one with this lot. It happened a friend because they initially wouldn't accept his ID, despite it being ok'd by a police officer. By the time it was sorted, the flight had left, but they "kindly" got him a place on another flight. For a fee.
Thanks for all the info etc, I was gonna book up brussels last night but Mrs Sol. reminded me that we are gonna go house hunting in Cyprus this Autumn so we should save our money. Too bloody sensible Mrs Sol.:(
