your marathon (insert article of clothing)

anyone have a shirt that they've owned, loved, and protected from the evil "rag-pile" for years?

mine is a "House of Drums" (small drum shop in northern los angeles) t-shirt. i got from the store owner back when i was 15 and have had the thing for 9 years.

I've got two that have survived relatively intact: one that I won in French class back in high school which has "Hello" in French, German, and Spanish on one side, with "Goodbye" also in three languages on the reverse. The other is a "Newberry College Quiz Bowl" t-shirt which I acquired as a gimmie while part of the high school "academic team" and I think I'm the only person in history to actually wear it.

I also have a nice t-shirt of the 12-inch cover for LWTUA which I rarely wear, in order to keep in it nice-even-though-it's-been-worn state.

I have my concert shirts from 86-89 for U2, Cure, Alarm....just to name a few...and I have a vintage Sex Pistols shirt I got from an older friend who saw them live once. They are all now stored in a cedar chest in my bedroom...maybe some day i will frame them or something...im too afraid to wear them anymore....i dont want them to tear or fade anymore

Other day I found a concert t-shirt from XTC, on their Black Sea tour in 1980, in a box of old clothing. Since they don't tour any more, that's the reason I've never thrown it out.

A few concert shirts. My Smashing Pumpkins "Zero" shirt I've had since I was 12 and doesn't really look silver anymore. Another Pumpkins shirt that says "The world is a vampire" on the front and has the tour and year. A Cure shirt with Smith on the front from the 17 seconds/faith era, although I found it when I was 15. A pair of green jeans that are about 2 sizes too small, but a friend still tells me that I look good in them.

Neither of us went to Syracuse, but it's so soft and worn in it's perfect. Started getting torn and holy in the last year or so.

i've also got a Citylights Bookstore (Lawernce Ferlinghetti's store in San Francisco)shirt that has seen better days. it has gone from black, to brownish-black, to grey and still, it will stay with me forever. (no woman is gonna use this thing to clean a toilet bowl! )

Shellsuit that i bought from HANK...pure class!
