New Order live @ Glastonbury Festival (UK) 2005.06.25

Good to see you all and bloody great gig. The sound was perfect - that Pyramid system made everyone sound ace. The sound on the telly broadcast did not do it justice, according to people I know who have watched it.

The most impressive part of the gig for me was the Oldam New Order fan I stood next to who offered the Coldplay fan behind me a smack in the mouth for heckling the LWTUA restart.

Conor - you're a hero for putting a brave face on that discomfort in the field. The carnage on Friday morning was like nothing I have ever seen.

I was a bit poor at seeing other bands, I basically suelched around the site absorbing the goings on and stayed away from the large crowds. We I stood with a Policeman at the top of a hill and watched Brian Wilson, which was a new experience! I got my head sunburnt (those of you that have seen it will know that this is a bad thing to happen to me) and couln't be arsed with the Scream. Reading the reports today I realise that I made a mistake!

worst part: Butchering every song, and bringing guilt by association on anyone with mildly leftsit leanings (see numerous Bush references). He diddnt look like a rock star when he was being dragged off stage - just a stupid old tosser.

Sounds like a right laugh. I went to see the la's, couldnt be bothered trekking to the pyramid and wanted to get a good spot down the front for the man. Bit gutted now, even though the la's were spot on musically.

And a bitter old twisted tosser who maybe has just realised the Scream don`t cut it anymore.Screamadelica was awesome no argument. But The last album was bollocks.

First of all, I thought New Order were great....does anyone know if EGG was on the setlist for glasto too? That would have made my day. But whatever, the set was pretty good I thought (even though it was the same as most others this year!). My mates and I thought Transmission sounded great, and even though LWTUA was slightly butchered ("Love, Love will tear us apart *come on!* agaaaaaaiiiiIIIINNNNNN!!! *whoop!*), the opening still sent a shiver down the spine. And yes they sounded a bit ropey, but even I thought that was part of the charm, and it was my first live NO experience. I agree with earlier posters about the static coldplay fans. No one was dancing near me at all (I was nearish to the front, on Hooky's side). The lads seemed to be having a great time though - the screen caught Steve grinning like a lunatic. And I have to admit....sorry but World In Motion was ace. I found this on the guardian website - check out R:

I missed the scream, but it sounds pretty mental, the last true rock and rollers...I wonder if they can carry it on though without it becoming a bit sad... I saw LCD soundsystem instead....is anyone familiar with these? They were my undoubted highlight of the weekend. Absolutely awesome, some furious dancing going on in that tent!

I caught the end of them in the PEEL tent, as i worked my way in for RYAN ADAMS ( no show ), it was a good atmosphere.
