I thought for sure this would be sold out in an hour. Max capacity only what 4,500? It's 6 pm in Chicago and tickets are still available. I still blame a lack of promotion as the reason. If it wasn't for my wife listening to XRT, I would have never known about it either.
XRT in my opinion is an earthy station that caters to women. If this was advertised on Q101 or 94.7 The Zone, possibly even B96, I still think it would be sold out by now. This is New Order we're talking about.
Remember.. they didn't visit the Middle and the East Coast since 1993... lack of promotion from Get Ready... I'm not surprised, this is why they didn't pick a larger venue.
Yeah but still, 4,500 people isn't that much and with only what, 3 dates in US, I still think people don't know about it.
I sent emails to Q101, 94.7 (Both in Chicago) and to U93 and 103.8 (Both in South Bend, Indiana) asking them to add it to their concert hotlines.
Great for all of us going that they don't sell out, but to be honest, I don't want them to retire anytime soon, so I want to promote this as well as I can. It's NEW ORDER! We have local bands that can sell out 4,500.
By the way, Stabbing Westward is a Chicago band that would be cool to open for New Order. Sorry to bring up Depeche again, but I've seen them touring with Depeche and really like them.
For those of you maybe overseas that possibly haven't heard of them, they've had 4 or 5 top hits. A little harder than New Order, more Smashing Pumpkins like.

Lack of promotion is to blame, so are the ticket prices, well ticketmaster charges.
I don't think Stabbing Westward would be a good opener, plus do they even have anything to promote? As far as local bands or artist go, I would love to see Magas. This guy can rock the shit out of everyone with his drum machine and drunk antics.
Because the way the system works, since it's an XRT show XRT will be the only one publicizing it on air. Well, maybe other Infinity Broadcasting stations as well, but neither 94.7 or Q101 are owned by Infinity. On the other hand, WBBM-AM Newsradio 780 and the Score 670 AM are XRT's sister stations, so if you hear promotions on any other Chicago-area radio station it'll be on those two (not likely!).
So good luck getting Q101 to even acknowledge the gig - same reason you'll never hear XRT promoting Q101's holiday bash gigs.

Just remember people, this gig is rushed in at the last minute, so they had no time to get ready... we got confirmation of the date last week, tickets on sale just a few days later.. they even took the NOOL logo, so talk about lack of time 
Now, how about Billy Corgan to open for them? 
I think a lot of us in our 30's listen to Q101 and 94.7 when our iPods aren't going. I hate XRT. So I think advertising on Q101 and 94.7 will find the old audience that don't know New Order is touring. However, the person that replied about the stations being owned by different people is probably right unfortunately, I didn't think of that.

HAHA nice! yeah i know just what you mean. XRT is the only station legit in my book, i mean i know its sorta an older, indie audience with more taste, but I love em more than the shock and shout teenybopper stations even despite being just 19. I mean they may not have the cash or advert budget as 101"alternative" or 94.7 "new rock alternative" but the on air talent, hometown pride, and knowledge makes up for it. As for drugrep, i love XRT. They are really a fan's station. Maybe i'll comment later to clarify the Chicago station situation to the outsiders.
As for spotnick, yeah I just know Billy's gonna be there. Now its only a matter of what he'll be doing...I'd love to hear him warmup, and at least help out if they do Turn My Way. Heck, he could help with any song being such a versatile musician. cheers.
think it just goes to show why they dont bother touring the states if they cant sell out a 4500 venue....
the show was officially announced on Monday and went on sale Saturday. XRT can only do so much promotion in less than a week. They hit the papers with ads, advertise on the station, their website, etc... And honestly, I hate XRT and all the radio staions except 670 the Score which does'nt play music and college stations, but I respect XRT for promoting cool bands. Q101 and 80's @ 8 on 101.9 won't mention the show at all cause its an xrt show (unless they are owned by same company). i think it will sell out before May 3rd.

Cor! Here I was skimming over this post and read "they didn't visit the Middle East since 1993." And I'm thinking....no, I can't see New Order tix selling out too fast in Beiruit, Baghdad, Jerusalem....
