Would love to, but want to get there as early as poss, to get at the front in front of Hooky ![]()
Love to, but sadly the NI Order don't arrive until well into the JB boozing (bout 1700 by the time we do the checkin in to hostel thing). Bus station hostel and pub are a perfect bizarre booze triangle, if my cartography's worth a shit :)
I'm SO tempted to wander into JB's with a string of spuds round my neck so you all know it's me :)

What time??
come to that, what time is the JB meet-up?
Wasn't it 2pm to start in JBs??
It was Barney Army and BigInOil that set up the meet I think?
Right, get into Manc about 20 past 2 courtesy of Sir Beard. Quick Shower,S**t and shave. So will hopefully see some of you guys and gals in JB's from about half 3. Hopefully it will be as good as the Audley B4 Hyde Park this year.
I have been confirmed that the ACR set will be filmed.. and probably available on their website eventually, so if you want to see yourself there, don't stay in the pub for too long ;)
I'm more concerned about stamping the Irish Order's hallmark all over any NO bootleg, it's just a question of working out exactly the right thing to yell, I had been thinking "oi barney get your tits out", but it lacks finesse.
Put us down for arriving at JB's round about 5 ish. Bust gets in at 4:20, then according to this.... http://www.hattersgroup.com/location.html it'll take us ten mins checkin in to hostel and then it's a short stumble to the pub (assuming I aint been misreading all along, and it's right beside picadilly station)
Anyone who wants to volunteer a mobile number so we can check in with u fookers, mail me.
And....
Can we PLease clear up this issue of a Dalek. Several times I've heard people refering to hitting the dalek, or receving death threats from the Dr Who fan club for casting aspersions on it's sexuality. So, is there a Dalek in JB's (obviously, I need to know if I should bring a bag of jelly babies for it). Mind you, Manc must remind it of skaro :)

no dont worry there's no dalek in jb's.
the dalek is in the fab cafe bar but if your going fab cafe after the gig save the jelly babies and i'll help you throw them at the daleks head. o wait, just relized the poor jelly babies would get crushed in your pocket. ![]()

Do you think we'll be able to save this and burn onto dvd somehow, Must be some software on the net that will let us do it ? Wonder if a program called 'streamdown' will work ????
Oh bliss....my first NO gig, and I get to keep a copy. happy happy joy joy happy happy joy joy.
As for Dalek abuse.....if it's a mid/late 70's "BBC grey" Tom Baker era Dalek, I will shake it's plunger, and with great defference, ask if it would like a jelly baby. Any other sort, particularly the movie variey, and I'll join in the hurling and general dalek derogation.
"only two things come from skaro, steers and queers and you aint got no horns bo.......ah, welll errrrrr ummmmm"
Some questions:
- For definite: what pub are we all meeting in and are there directions (i.e. on Google Maps)?
- How much of a walk is it from the pub to Oldham St?
- How much of a walk is it from the pub to the Apollo?
- Where are we going after the Gig?
- Are there many late-night food outlets about town (I get desperately hungry after all that gigging)?
- Is the pub we are meeting in, and the place we are going to after the gig near a train station? What time does the 1st train in the morning leave for the Airport (roughly)?
- Is the pub we are meeting in, and the place we are going to after the gig near a Bus stop that will get us to the Airport? What time does the 1st bus in the morning leave for the Airport (roughly)?
- Roughly how much is a Taxi to/from the Airport?
I would really appreciate it if some Manc head could answer these questions – some of them are more important than others. I was in MCR for the Saville show, and found it easy to get to and from the City Centre by Train – there is a line to the Airport. I can usually make my way about quite easily. Conrad and myself will be heading (and 2 more Irish heads I think?) – and since they will probably be clinically brain-dead with drink – let alone in a state to make flights – by 4pm, it’s pretty conceivable that I am actually speaking for 4 here! ![]()
Thanking someone (anyone) in advance.

Yeah, any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated, I'll try to stay FAIRLY sober, but I'm really relying on Clockwork C to make sure this old-timer gets back to the Airport on time :beer3: :beer2: Actually, we are meeting with Angel with a Catapult at Dubland airport, so Clock may be shepherding us all TO the manc meet-up too. I did the sober thing at the Oxegen gig, it was grand, but i'm not doing it again on Monday!
Worthy questions indeed, c'mon where's the Manchester welcome wagon to tell us all where to get a decent madras at midnight.
If I've read things right, the pub is decidedly close to picadilly station, which makes the gig ( by my best guesstimations), a fair old stumble away, probably a bus/taxi trip. this is based on about 20 sleep deprived minutes on streetmap.co.uk. So it's probably certain bollox.
EDIT: it's starting to look a lot like I'm going o be both sore and moderately sober on monday (stopped antibiobastards today, but will be eating painkillers like sweeties, and I suspect booze and opoid painkillers might be a mixture to observe VERY carefully)
I can't answer the questions about the venue(s) coz I'm not sure myself, but-
Looks like the trains from Piccadilly to the airport run through the night on a light service and pick up again around six or seven am. Airport buses I'm not sure about timewise.
For late night food it's just the usual selection of take-aways, I'm afraid. But some of the curry places in Rusholme along Wilmslow Road (about 20 mins from the city centre by bus) are open pretty late.
Dont worry about getting around in the city, it's all walkable (unless it's raining, but I guess that will only affect the southern softies
)
However, I have been wondering about the journey to/fro the Apollo. It's a big walk as it's outside the city. There are always taxi's but the best option for a big group will be by bus. I'll have to ask some of my mates but I think buses that head out the Apollo go from Picadilly bus station. We may be able to catch them at the top of Whitworth St.
No probs for food after the gig, there's plenty of places. The city should be quiet on a Monday night apart from the student haunts, it aint no London.
If anyone gets stuck before or after the gig, give me a shout (07768 632572). BUT, dont rely on anything I say, I'm the tit who missed his plane so didnt get to Brixton. ![]()
The Apollo is ten mins walk tops from manc city centre. If everyone gets on the bus by the time it sets off you would already be there.

I told you not to rely on me ![]()
Well I'm staying at the Premier Travel Lodge on Portland Street and according to the website it is 1/2 mile from both Piccadilly and the Apollo. Which should make it 1/2 mile or so from the pub.
I'll be the lonesome Brummie by the way (wearing a white carnation
)
Me and my mate are driving from Darlington, (anyone need a lift ?) says on the Apollo website there's on-site parking, bound to fill up pretty quickly, anywhere else near ??
Class, more and more Darlo lot turning up.....
Ok for a lift thanks by the way, 3 of us going down in afternoon already! ![]()

No doubt there will be plenty of scally scum in bright jackets offering "Safe Parking" for a fiver on some derelict land. As soon as the gig starts out comes the crowbar and there goes your car stereo.
