There are fook all boozers nearby. Although it's good for footy. I used to play footy at the all-weather pitch in Padgate just down the road.

And for all you plastic jocks ...I used to play footy with a Scotch (sic) international at me local leisure center, he was good. but not that good, he used to play for Citeh, care to guess his name?

But....that was 17 years ago when I was fit & sprightly, now I'm just an 'ard old tackler. I always surprise people on a footy pitch, I'm a 'ard cunt on it, soft twat off it.

Although perhaps too soft these days after a particularly rash challenge that put me in hospital for 3 fookin days getting me cruciate mended. But I had to show those security guards from Salford I could run a game.

You probably think I'm bullshittin but ask me mates at the Apollo gig, we were 3-0 up, 20 mins to go, I was bossin the midfield, cruciate goes, we lost 3-5...twats.

Denis Law? :D City haven't had that many Scottish Internationalists over the years, Asa Hartford maybe? Tommy Hutchison, Willie Donachie, Colin Hendry or Paul Dickov. Can't think of any more.

Spectrum probbly has a bar inside, but dunno howlong it is since it was last used.

Having the 1st NOOL day in the Manchester area makes sense alright - I'll probably not be able to go tho' - child no.4 arrives early January (hopefully!), so i can't see me getting out of Dublin on an overnight for at least 6 months after that - priorities.

You know I been so busy gobshiting and getting excited about the apollo, I forgot to mention the obvious skill i can bring to this. If there are to be live bands, I'll gladly engineer, or, if better engineers are available, I have no major ego blocks on being a cable monkey. I'll do anything (except monitors obviously, I'm not a total fruitloop). Could even drag me PC over and do a bloody good live recording. I'm sure Re:order and Digital both have their own engineers, maybe they'll take it in turns to deal with "other ranks", if not, I'd be yer man.

Steve, yer in! We don't have a sound man, and have to rely on the in-house guy if there is one.

Havent read thru the whole thread so apologies if this has been suggested but we getting one or other or both of Re~Order & Digital to play? kick off the festivities after (presumably the footie) then dj madchester tunes until the early hours!! jobs a goodun

When time comes nearer, we'll work out what the venue's got and what we need to beg/steal/borrow or (gulp) hire.

I work for standard pubsound wages too :) ie my glass is never empty, makes me extremely cheap for the first few hours when all hell is breaking loose, round about 30p an hour.....but by closing time you may find Arthur Baker would have been cheaper :) No point mixing for pissed ears when yer sober as i always say...usually before falling over taking the desk and fx rack with me.

Ramble alert!!!!! ...and that at a gig where all me rich and gary were all simultaneously on what risk assessors may refer to as "a hundred year bender". You know the night's gonna go bad when, half way through the first tune, you grab your smuggled half bottle of Bush, only to realise you've already necked it all. We had to cut short our set cos we overran bigstyle. I begged the geezer runnin the place to let me fire up the beasts again later and play out our killer closing tune. By the time that came around, rich and gary were unconcious, I soldiered on (mainly automated tune anyway), stodd on the output leads from the mixer, reconnected them, and crashed the atari. Never let your gob write cheques yer ass can't cash. On the upside of that night, part of the reason we'd overran is cos we'd played in a track inolving me and some other geezers, singing the word "nosebeast" in falsetto voices over a disturbed D-B groove.....it's possibly the single stupidest thing I've ever recorded, I don't think we stop laughing the whole time we recorded it, or the whole time we played it out (which was a spur of the moment thing, and involved playing it in from a 4-track while I furiously kneaded the 7-band eq on it, and fucked about with the pitch).....right up until Rich tapped me and said "look out there" ...the place was fucking bouncing....it looked like a pistols gig, people were pogo-ing and moshing, and bouncing off each other and the walls, and a few ppl happily trance dancing amid it all. I stil don't believe it, the other guys who recorded the thing with me don't believe it, but it happened. Wiped the smile off my face nearly as fast as the night my anti-happy-hardcore protest tune made people in the arts college dance on tables. Wankers, I demand they look aghast and throw stuff.

That was the plan, we'll have to see if Digital fancy it or not. May be a long way from London!
