quick version, cos I hate doing anything twice......
Montiors: your PA, is it a stereo sidefill feed, 2 wedge feeds, more or what...will we need any more monitors (they are my demon, if the band can't hear themselves, everything else is fucked from the outset :) )
Do you submix the keyboards/machines on stage, am I getting them on a stero DI, a mess of individual feeds, or am I picking them up out of your KB player's backline?
Accoustic kit is fine and dandy with me, the only thing I was fretting about was hot swapping kits mid gig, it's just ugly, especially when you have to use the same mics for each kit (charity gig after all).
All your rack gear, is that in use on stage, or is any of it coming out front?
And...any of you other bands got anything terrible you want to tell me, tell me now :)
At least you guys know your own shit, that makes my life a whole lot easier than trying to get a good sound together wih a bunch of grunting mules on stage :)
We'd need full monitor mix on stage, we use our PA as the back-up more often than not, and it carries the click track feed for Jon the drummer. When we bother to bring it that is.
Keys/machines are generally individual feeds with us, three of them, though this could be switched for stereo DI I suppose. Half the time we don't even mic up the amps in the shite venues we play!
Most of the rack gear I use is to shape the guitar sound on stage. The tuner stands alone though, ground loop central, those buggers!
May bring a huge stack to split the guitar rig between a clean NO sound and a flangetastic JD special, seeing as the Masquerader and Phantom only get used on JD stuff, and the 335 and SG only get used on the NO stuff. Two rigs, one as back-up if need be. If it fits in the van it can come.
Talking of which, anyone know any London van hire firms who fancy doing a top rate for two nights hire for a charity event? Two vans needed.
