Just under 2 hours in the morning, with early morning trains that run from just after 5am...

There is, however, a National Express Coach that leaves Bournemouth at 3:15am and arrives back in London (Victoria) at 6:15am, stopping off at Heathrow and Hammersmith on the way... Hmmm... :)

as i mentioned before i live in bournemouth and you all know its a resort town with more hotels than you can shake your fist at! so october time of year! on a monday! pretty sure you'll be able to find some cheap accom, and i should know i've been in the hotel game 10 years!

p.s if you have friends in bournemouth get them to buy the tickets! no booking/cc card paying with cash just 32.50, does not sound like much but when i was buying 6 tickets it saved around 25 quid!

royal exeter is opposite

bournemouth international is 200 yards away

tralee and trouville are 500 yards away

and you can sleep under the pier for free 200 yards away!

travel lodge sounds good but its more like 2 miles away, but it is close to the opera house if your thinking of going to the party after.

and talking about the party who exactly can go? as im not to sure.

I'm about sixty miles from Bournie so might drive down on the day, have plenty, stay the night somewhere and then drive back the next day....depending on how brutal the night was!

Bristol airport might be worth a look. Think its about 2 1/2 hours from Bournemouth by train and i think they have several routes to Germany.

Thx, Edd. But only British Airways have one flight a day to Duesseldorf. Most flies from Germany in this area go to London.

I didn't really think of going to this gig but now I'm wondering whether to go and whether this will be a special 30 year anniversary bash with a special set of possibly Joy Division songs or will it be the same set that will be played at the later gigs in October as I have tickets for the Wembley Arena gig. If it is going to be a special gig/set/night does anyone know if there are still any standing tickets available from the Promoter or Alan Wise etc. and if not does anyone know where I could get hold of one without paying over the odd's on ebay?! I am thinking about doing "the big step" and coming to the Bournemouth show. I was thinking to spend the week-end in London and then leaving for Bournemouth on Monday morning. I am trying to figure out costs to see if I can afford it. Anyone has any idea how much the train from London to Bournemouth (including return) will cost? I guess it could cost more than my flight from Italy to London!!! Is there anyone in London who could help me booking the train in advance? I've decided to go to Bournemouth!!! It's amazing like this morning I had no clue I could have done this. Anyway got my standing ticket for the gig, got my flight...Now I need the train. Thanks for the suggestion: I've checked and I'd like to get the trains from London Waterloo to Bournemouth on Monday morning at 10.35 and coming back to London on Tuesday morning with the train of 09.59. Only problem it looks like they aren't avaliable for online purchase so I've to figure out a way to get the train tickets from Italy. If anyone is ineterested in the same trains let me know and we can meet.

The Opera House is a nightclub in Boscombe, which is just a short bus/taxi ride from the BIC.

It's a bit far away for my liking, but it's probably the best venue for a party. Most of the clubs in central Bournemouth are awful. You won't want to be hanging around in Boscombe town too long afterwards though - it's a bit of a shite-hole!

There are a small number of seats in the balcony, but the main hall is all-standing.

Hello There! Time for thinking to an accomodation in Bournemouth I think...Any suggestion for some hotel near the venue, or probably better near the Opera House? I'll be spending the week-end before the gig in London so if you know some beautiful and cheap accomodation in London suggestions are welcomed as well! Thanks for your help!

We're looking at possibly hitting the Newcastle date...I'm leaning towards Bournemouth, he's leaning towards Newcastle (I typically get my way) - though I'm not sure which is the better choice.

It's in Boscombe, but only about a mile and a half from the gig venue. The towns are joined together, you won't see the difference between them.

I'm in the Yenton Hotel, about half a mile from the gig on the road to Boscombe, so nicely placed between the two sites. Cracking hotel, got gym and indoor pool

Hey, for the apollo i stayed up for the night & got the first flight home (sitting in Manc train station at 5am with Clockwork C trying to stay awake so we wouldnt miss our train to the airport ) after that, i think i deserve a bit of comfort this time:D so i'll be nursing that hangover in the Sauna & pool the next day

Pretty good, judging from the replies above he seems to be VERY on-the-ball with getting tickets out quickly (hope you have the 'international reply coupon{international SAE}' things in your country - they dont do them here in Ireland anymore ) & if you really are socially innept, make sure to meet up with the rest of us at the pre-gig beers - you'll fit right in with us:D

After my histelling experience at Apo0llo, I'm doing the hotel thing, wee hotel on the Bath road, about 10-15 mins ( as far as I can see from google earth) from the gig.....of course it's on the OTHER direction from this here after party thing, but so what, I'm sure they have taxi's Bournemouth.

Thing is Jack, that doesn't matter whether it's a special show or not. It's a New Order gig, they are all special in their own way! I honestly don't care if they do an all-JD set and then an all-NO set. Or a long all-JD set as a one-off.

I would be a bit pissed off if the night was given over to a load of "celebrities" and people from other bands who are mates of theirs though, we're paying to see New Order not Gillespie, Corgan and Arsewipe.

All we ever ask is a few old NO songs that they haven't played for a while in the set! That and a recognition that the people at these gigs will be NO fans not a festival crowd, we don't need to hear BLT, Temptation, True Faith and Blue Monday at every fookin' gig!

I reckon there will be some sort of Raffle or Lucky Prize on the door.

You've changed yer tune, Tim. New Order played 7 Joy Division songs, plus Ceremony (let's not that debate that one here!) in Manchester just over 7 months ago.

And you were quite happy back then to state you wouldn't travel for such a spectacle.

My not going to Manchester was more to do with travel problems that weekend, as I said at the time. An all-JD half an hour set wasn't sufficinet of an incentive, the set length as much as the material played though.

I don't mind it if they do one of each, but what I meant was that I would be pissed off with all this hype and build-up about Bournemouth if they did 7 JD and that was it, no full set of anything.

If they must persist in doing JD stuff, I'd rather it were as a support slot to themselves or as the encore. That said, if they did a full 70 mins of JD it would be quite something, as it would have to contain new old material.

Well I got my ticket from Mr Wise (43hour turnaround LOL) if that counts for anything.

Just what ARE people expecting? I think we'll get outrselves a nice wee gig and maybe a couple of long-dead songs. I rather got the impression this gig was being done for our benefit, so, you know, it'd seem rude not to go :)

Besides, Bournemouth is by the sea, it'll stop my man-from-atlantis thing kicking off ( I get all pissed off if too far from water :D )

The Stranglers announce a gig at Oct 9th in the Bournemouth International Center on their Website.

JJ and Hooky in bass volume war then, which is the bigger hall? ( ie who'll have the bigger speakers to play with)

New Order are in the Windsor Hall, which is the bigger venue. The Stranglers are in the Pavilion Theatre. Both part of the BIC Complex, and are about 400 yards apart (Windsor Hall is a bit further from the town centre).

Hey people, long time no see... I'm DROWNING in my fookin to do list... How I wish I could come to the BIC, has it been said the support band will be Gabrielles Wish? I discovered that band when they supported New Order for the first time, in Manchester in 1998, it was a true revelation, that was my first New Order gig so it'll always be the music day of my life. By the way on the Gabrielles Wish site there's a gallery with wonderful photos made by Natalie Curtis, been in touch with her and she seems really nice and intelligent, apart from a very well promising artist. You won't believe it, but one day I'll be back...

'moon in the square' for cheap and cheerfull, 'landmark' for expensive and weird (its in a converted church), 'a million postcards from nowhere' is middle of the road, or 'harbour heights' which has a huge balcony that over looks the sea and the pier from about 70 ft above the beach! All of which are within five minutes walk of the bic, plus i left out about 10 others! plus ive heard rumors that the party has been cancelled at the opera house? anyone got any more info?

Was going to stay nearer the opera House than the BIc although they are pretty close, if it is cancelled i shall stay in the centre of bournemouth. yeah there are some fab bars: check out www.beerintheevening.com you can make your own pub crawl there!!! There are alot of snobby posh bars in Bournemouth which are ok for Bournemouth people but if you want a proper pub then you want oneils (Irish - old christchurch road), Litten Tree (Old christchurch road),tap and hobbit, yates all in the centre and ten/15 minutes walk to the bic x

Does anyone know who will be suporting New Order at Bournemouth???

Gabrielles Wish If you don't know them on the site you find a lot of MP3 files for free download. For me they're the best band of these last two decades, they've been described as the "closest thing to Joy Division today" but cross that with a strong Fall influence as well. I discovered them when they supported New Order in Manchester in 1998, that was my first time seeing New Order so you can bet I couldn't wait to see them and yet I was totally blown away by Gabrielles Wish and didn't want them to stop, they have a storming live impact, music which doesn't just try to imitate post punk like weak bands like Editors or Interpol do, it's music which really reincarnates the spirit of post punk with the same intensity (also thanks to Rob Corless which is an extraordinary frontman), they would have been perfect in the early 80s Factory though they sometimes have a contemporary edge and explore different styles in their instrumental tracks. They're the main reason of my lack of time to check this forum, which I'm missing a lot, that's how much I care about them... My latest update is a gallery with pictures taken by Natalie Curtis

the set is likely to be the ISO9000 New Order Set, the same one you can see listed here for every gig they played in the last 2 years. Although there might apparently be a difference here and there in Bournemouth, assuming Alan Wise was talking less shite than usual.

By the way fully agree on the chemical bros gig, at the moment its the best gig ive seen so far and ive seen a few other other bands, but that fooking rocked cant wait till see them again just for chemical beats! and was good to hear bernie briefly on out of control!

Actually, Gabs Wish are very good. Karen is very fit and Darrens a nice lad. Although if i remember correctly he owes me a pint. Although he did describe Gabs Wish as a "mix of Joy Division and the Cheeky Girls" He was actually half right...

There aren't any decent pubs nearby though!

He does, apparently it was him calling Gabrielles Wish. I guess if some of you going there never seen them live and would like to there would be time to catch up with mates for beer even if you see the supporting band as well, whose set shouldn't last more than 40 minutes... actually I don't even think they'll do more than half an hour... not to say you must absolutely be interested, but if you wanna give them a chance the most of you shouldn't be disappointed, especially when you think what else's happening on the music scene. I mean, say what you want about Gabrielles Wish, but they piss all over the fookin Arctic Monkees...

well just a little update from your man on the ground down here in sunny bournemouth, the gig has definetly been moved to the solent hall from the windsor hall, not all bad, it has a giant window that overlooks the sea and its all standing and a bit smaller than the windsor hall. i spoke to some guys at the bic and its purely down to bad ticket sales! they themselves have been told nothing except new order are playing, they even had to make up there own flyers for the gig! and a bad job they made of it! (can post a comparison pic compared to the kasabian flyer if anyone would like to see?) and on the flyer they dont even metion any support act as they dont know of any! it would appear the biggest publicity for this gig is on here!

It's only about 1000 spaces smaller than Windsor Hall, isn't it? Right next door as well, so nobody will need to relocate to a different hotel or anything. Should still be a good gig (if fookin' Ticketline ever send the bastards out that is).

yeah your just missing the seated area so its no big loss, should be better really as it will feel more like a an old school gig, just hope bernies in the mood for it when he finds out hes been downgraded! i'll get him a pernod or two and tell him its retro cool!

Well, eight years have passed since New Order's comeback gigs were selling out in a few hours, it's no good to see "poor ticket sales" next to New Order, but time does this even to the best bands... So this would mean tickets are still available, and this just makes me feel horribly frustrated because I just can't decide to come last minute...

Someone posted earlier in this or another thread (sorry for not trawling through it), that the after-gig party had been cancelled too.

Any more news/confirmation of this, folks?

well i posted that rumor and it is still a rumor, i used to work in a bar in bournemouth and as you can imagine you meet allsorts! but one chap who was regular was a relocated manc who seems to have good connections with the band etc (hes aactually arranging an unofficial after party for the kasabian gig in bournemouth and is in contact with the band or those close to get them there) i found this out when i last bumped into him recently and this is when he told me about the new order cancelled party? as i say its a rumor but i would have thought the people on here in the higher echilons would know?

so can you confirm that there is an aftershow party, ehich isnt cancelled? thanks heidi

I shall come up with the best places for you for your money, being a local have a grest ideas! Also those who are concerened with the solent hall check out www.bic.co.uk then put solent all in the search bar and then press confrencing then the blue solent hall link and it shows you many pictures of the hall, it will be more of a personal gig!!!

I know this isnt relevant to the show at the BIC, but as iam a newish fan please could you answer a few questions for me. Is Gillian Gilbert still married to stephen and is she in the band still? Also the name Joy Division, where did this name come from and where they called anything else before joy division?? Thanks guys.

Heidi, Thanks for the b and b tips, mangaged to get in at the Hedley Court, its full of Tory party members at the moment, so if its still in one piece on Monday i should be ok. Might even make a couple of quid selling on the whips, gimp masks and copies of Horse and Jockey that they will leave behind

So glad that you got in at the Hedley Hotel, it is in a really good place to get to he BIC and the centre of Bournemouth all within 5 minutes west hill road goes up the right hand side of the bic, if you walk to he bottom of the hill you will come to a roundabout, to the right directly is the BIC and turn left to start your partying ha ha well done! My drinking companion and I will be arriving in Bournemouth around mid-afternoon with the intention of getting on it for a pair of hours, enjoying a top gig and then climbing onboard the oblivion bus until the wee hours, some two bob nightclub's lack of get up and go isnt going to spoil it, there will be plenty more watering holes to frequent. your night out will be what you make it

I let the fans know of what you said about the lack of interest etc for the after show party - have you viewed www.neworderonline.com and the messages boards about the bournemouth gig!! There are fans travelling from all over the place for this so called special event!! I think you will find the interest are the hundreds of fans coming from away from bournemouth ho are totally up for a mad new order themed night!! Above is the poster from the opera house website - advertsising the event! it is also organised/sponsored by the looks of it by www.neworderonline.com - so neworderonline what has happened, surely you know of the fans great disapointment and the numbers that wish to go!

Most people seem to put the neworderonline.com link on now, as it os widely recognised as the nearest there is to a functional and meaningful official site. It doesn't mean that the site have been involved with the organisation of the event.

Oh right that is good to know, do you also think that although the loacl interest may not be extensive the fan base interest is on a large scale??

Fanbase interest is considerable - people are coming from all over the world for these gigs!

What would be your advice!!! Do you think if i can proove to the opera house it is viable they may keep it going?? Do you have any idea of the amount of fans going to the gig at present??

I would expect there will be in the region of 150 people who regularly use this site at the gig, plus double that who attend all the gigs if they can. It's a Monday night though, not the best of nights for a night away.

At the end of the day, the Opera House know what is best for them. It's them who make the loss if it doesn't go well, them who have staff to pay etc. We will be able to find a late bar somewhere regardless!

Well lets just see what the Opera house have to say now?? There are plently of late night bars open, some are pretty good, its having the room if people are wanting to stick together and know one another from the sight or just want to party with the new order fans. Heidi, you can be in charge: choose a bar that's open late and post it's name here on a new thread called "The Bournemouth Afterparty".

Include any info you can like directions, type of night.

Avoid anywhere with a dress code, cover charge and expensive bar if you can!

Ask Tim to stick your thread to the top of the board.
