did anyone like the support bands??? i thought their sound quality could hav been a bit better!!! lol anyone got any pictures from monday cos i forgot my camera lol completely gutted :( xxx

Never seen support, but NO sounded OK, at least they sounded OK with yer head shoved in the stage left PA stack like we were. DID brace for the CRACK of a trip-off when Hooky started hitting his drum pads, the system did not like that one bit.

yer i thought that their music was ok just was a shame that the sound quality wasnt better. but then perhaps u cant rele compare tham 2 what came next anyway!!! can honestly say that monday nite was one of the best nites of my life i thought the crowd was brilliant just widh i had sum pictures :(

I had a fantastic couple of days darn Sarf. Set out Sunday with Alex, Jeanette and John (thanks for driving). We were staying with a couple of Pompey Orders' friends, Diane and Gary, who never knew us from Adam but kindly put us up in their big house. Not only did they provide a roof over our heads but force fed us food and drink - big thanks to you both.

We set out Sunday night to watch Hot Chip, who were really good, but it was a hot and sweaty venue, so we ended up propping up the bar with Darren from Gabrielle's wish. Darren was in a good enough state to hand out flyers for Monday, but got bored with that and then started handing out stolen wet wipes instead! So although the gig wasn’t a sell out, at least the students in Bournemouth have clean hands. I’m purposely not mentioning the club we went to after that.

The big day arrived and we set out into Bournemouth to meet everybody. People started arriving gradually, German Order, Stevie Campbell, Emily and Al, Adam Coglan, Ness and Greg, Wino and Digital Mike, Fradders, Ren, Biggy and Royser, Nick King, Dave Clark and Legge D, Mr and Mrs Milky and those nutters from Chelsea and Newport! Have I remembered everybody? Got to the Landmarc and it was heaving, faces everywhere. I left early to watch Gabrielle’s Wish but vaguely remember meeting Johnny Giles, DoN, Wolfram, Welshcake, Old Monkey, Midnight Blue, Julie, Pompey Order, Old Blue, Shug and John Sludden – I was wobbling a bit by this time!

Somebody threatened to slap me because I twanged his braces. Was nice to meet Angel With a Catapult and Cuana-D for the first time, after that it’s a bit of a blur. The gig was amazing, I really enjoyed Gabrielle’s Wish, by the time New Order came on I could hardly see. I remember dancing very aggressively and was absolutely knackered but buzzing by the end of the gig. Got my second wind for the aftershow party, where the DJ played some excellent tunes including a good handful of New Order and Joy Division songs. I only met Heidi and Jonathon on my way out. The aftershow was brilliant – thanks a lot!

Not going to Newcastle, I need a rest. See you all in Blackpool!

Sorry about not posting sooner but only got back last night. Anyway I had a wonderful time at the Bournemouth gig and hope everyone else who went did as well. As I couldn't check in the Travelodge until 3pm so went over the pub and met Luton Order - a top bloke, a guy called Dave and a bloke from Harrow (sorry forgot your name mate) who bought us all a round of drinks. We had a great chat about JD/NO, the gig, the set list, Mr Wise etc. and headed to our hotel to eventually check in. Got freshened up and headed to the venue around 5pmish to get down the front. NO were sound checking and I managed to hear and see them do These Days and Guilt Is A Useless Emotion (petty they didn't play that one) until eventually getting chased out by 'Sarge' (thanks oldmonkey). Got friendly with a German girl (again apologies for forgetting your name) and had a great chat about JD, NO, gigs and things in general before we got let in around 7pm. The first support act Mona was a female front woman using a lead guitar with backing tracks on her laptop was reasonably okay. Next up Gabrielle's Wish a darkish indie rock group hailing from the Greater Manchester. Their lead singer was a cross between Ian Curtis mannerisms and Richard Ashcroft. Pretty good support IMHO and top blokes who I met chatted with in the after show party - will try and look you guys up when I'm in Manchester. DJ (Tintin I think) then spun some Hacienda era classics and wetted our appetites for the boys who were introduced to a rapturous crowd with an Ennio Morincone tune from The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Beginning with Crystal the crowd went mental (wilder than Manchester Apollo IMO). However even though NO's set was pretty much business as usual, the gig not really the special '30th Anniversary' gig that was promised, ending a little early (around 10:30pm) and my ribs crushed to f*** I loved every minute of this gig with the highlight seeing them do These Days live and the banter from Bernard and Hooky who both seemed to enjoy the night as much as we did. With my jacket around my ankles and my ribs just in one piece I headed to the after show party at the Landmark with the German girl, her friend Marc007 - top bloke and Nike66 - really good bloke and travelled all the way from the US along with another NOOLer from the States who bought me a drink (sorry forgot your name mate) I had a dance, drink and chat to a good selection of Hacienda tunes spun by the DJ. Eventually met up with Heidi who arranged the proceedings at the Landmark and her boyfriend and then got chatting to a guy from Dublin who is a mate of Ness's (again apologies for forgetting your name mate) JD/NO and the gig. The combined effects of alcohol consumption and being up since 4am (thanks to National Express funfares) I started to get a bit cabbaged but lasted until the end of the proceedings ended. Was going to go off somewhere else but I was hammered by then so I eventually walked back to the hotel - Up Down and Turned Around the hills of Bournemouth and had a bloody good night guv!

Bring on Wembley which I hope is another good night with NO and if I don't meet some of you guys there see you at the NOOL event Blue Saturday. Cheers and all the best to everyone I was with at the gig!

Ok, I’ll be the dissenter here – it was a piss poor performance given what was supposed to have been….There was nothing to distinguish it from any other gigs with the exception of TD and WJ; this in itself would have been absolutely fine had it not been purported to be something other than that. Obviously Alan Wise has a lot to answer for but the band were surely in someway complicit by virtue of the fact that they made some attempt, albeit a lame one to alter the set list in more than one area. TF was dropped too. An epochal move for NO it was – I was blown away by the daring of it all. To add insult to injury they fucked off earlier than they should have.

On the bright side, it was great to see everyone, and the measures of Jack Daniels were much bigger at the BIC than they are in Dublin…although maybe I was ordering trebles….

Thanks to Ness & Greg for the after-aftershow party; and yes, that was my fault, I believe, although I’m glad I left before witnessing someone hurl in your bathroom…nice….

Royser and I were discussing it the next day - both recalled an abrupt end, but couldn't recall what actually went on.

All I know is, one minute they were there, and the next they were gone. It must have been by trap door because I don't even remember seeing them walk off stage.

I did see this guy at the side of the stage.

At first I thought it was ceiling cat, but then realised he only had two toes.

Stay away from that TRAP DOOR...

LOL I too beat a hasty retreat at the soundcheck before I ended up in 'Sarge's' TRAP DOOR. Still if Hooky was down there Cheers!

You only left a tiny bit of mess and I left that for the staff to clean up! You were snoring quite a bit at one point too

The other two gents I met that night, just started talking about their love of New Order at the after show and I therefore logically invited them back. They were good fun, Paul gave us plenty to laugh at - yes forgot about the constant cleavage refs, thanks for reminding me!!

also, i'd say Angel W.A.C. was still there when Dave C threw up (very quietly & sensibly, I might add) - its so easy to miss little things like that after a few glases of wine.

the room service party is all a bit of a blur - Dave L probably remembers as much as anyone , bits keep reapearing in me head - like Greg's 'Why French Mustard - why not English Mustard'

I strongly suspect that master Cunningham's breaking of his keyboard had a profound effect on this. there may have been a couple of electronics based tunes cut because of this.

TBH, the early ending was received with mixed blessing by me, half of me was like "OI you cheap bastards", the other half was "thank fuck for that, 5 more mins and I'd hae died".

Steve - nothing was cut. Check Jarvo's scan of the set-list (page 17). They did exactly what it said on the tin.

It was an hour and twenty minutes including encore, hardly "fucking off early"... Did no-one notice them taking a bow and saying goodnight?

Sorry didn't see the set list. Show was not short by NO historical standards, but relative to more recent gigs it seemed just a tad curtailed.

As I said tho, another ten mins and I'd have been ambulance material
