It may be worth checking the map as well, Heywood is a good ten miles out of Manchester, and any promoter who argues that your playing a charity event ten miles away will negate his chances of making money the following night is a tosser and not worth working with.
Keep a sense of perspective as well eh, it's a tribute band and a pub in Lancashire, not the Millenium Stadium and Oasis!
As I'm sure you could tell from my post, I would not think of dictating when or where the proposed '07day would occur - merely laying out some of the problems that might crop up for us if it did go ahead then and people wanted or anticipated our involvement. None of which may be relevant or realised.
You'll understand the nature of the promoter/band relationship is such that quite a few are tossers but far, far more are blind to the value or appeal of the idea of a JD/NO tribute so we're still grateful for the opportunity to play at their venues or events.
The gig in Heywood is a curious one. Recently we had to postpone/re-arrange a booked gig because a separate promoter got the arse about a pre-booked event the preceding night in another (local) town. But this Indie all-dayer is probably not so critical in terms of turn-out and having local events smite enthusiasm for other gigs as there are plenty of other distractions on offer - but it's still one we would like to be able to return to.
I'm also sure you know that it's not a case of us having a distorted perspective of our importance - more the inverse as we attempt to maintain interest in the band from a promoter's viewpoint. Reflected in our efforts to stay onside with their expectations and their skewed perspectives.
These concerns are most likely moot though.
The main thing tempering our ability to realise our enthusiasm for these 48hr party people events is far more mundane and domestic...
