Downright wacky. I've seen people bitching about "State of the Nation" returning to the set but "Player in the League is definitely not top tier.
I hope they're not trying too hard to revist the Get Ready era in response to Hooky touring the album. In the recent interview of his I posted today, he claims most of that album has never been played live. I believe "Vicious Streak", "Primitive Notion" (which is one of my favourites from it) and "Someone Like You" are the only ones that have actually been neglected. With "Player in the League" making its debut, now even a couple of the era's b-sides (along with "Behind Closed Doors") and its non-album single "Here to Stay" have been performed. Even Pre-Get Ready track "Brutal" has also been performed live.

"Waiting for the Sirens' Call" was in the first setlist I saw on the site (replacing "Krafty" from the shows in Japan). It has since been removed, returning the set tally to 18 tracks.
I've been listening to Get Ready a little bit recently, and each time I find myself inevitably skipping ahead to Someone Like You and thinking this would fit great with the more electronic-based current setlist. Player in the League, well...😕

Yes I thought that too and I agree that the only tracks not played from GR are the ones you stated with SLY and PN being strange choices not to play as 2 of the best on the album, they played rock the shack for gods sake! I suppose what Hooky means they’ve hardly been played regularly. Only crystal and run wild survived the set list in the main after 2201/2002 era and run wild was dropped after 2005. So only Crystal gets regular play
I must admit I’ve always quite liked PITL. Decent B-side. Excellent bit of Hooky bass. Did anyone see it live? What was it like live. Much better than shake it up anyway

Love Less is an awesome track (naturally - it's from the most perfect album ever recorded).
I'm pretty pleased with this version. Sounded decent.

Agreed, decent version. It's not really a crowdpleaser live, but suspect they're doing it for the hardcore fans, which warms my heart.

Started out a bit lumpen, but improved as they got into it.
The thing we picking these random old tracks is that they are obviously on edge when they play them. Compared to knocking out BLT for the billionth time, surely they must get a bit of a rush from playing *new* old stuff?

I'm inclined to agree about the about those stalwarts in the set. But aside from the usual excuses for keeping them in (people might be seeing them for the first time, they've spent money and effort on programming sounds and visuals, they're lazy...), I believe there's something else at play: There's not going to be too many more go arounds. It's unlikely Bernard is going to be motivated to drag himself to Australia once he's in his seventies.
The main reason I'm going to see them in May is because there's a good chance it will be my last opportunity.

I've seen then many times since 1984 but not so much recently, whether that's me getting old or them getting even older. What would tempt me back and very unlikely but who knows:

Stupid f#$king article, that one. Probably based on a handful of whiners on social media. 9000+ people turned up and had a brilliant time, enjoying some joy after a week of anxiety and drama.
Being in Brisbane, and having liaised with band management over the course of the preceding week on the conditions here, I can talk directly to this.
Firstly the band was watching very carefully, and ready to pull the plug, go to alternate venues, etc as needed. In no way were they going to proceed unless the conditions had cleared, the site was safe, and things were returning to some level of normaility.
For those unaware, Brisbane / SE-QLD had just gone through a Cat-2 Cyclone (Hurricane/Typhoon), and major associated rain event; the first directly on the city for 50 years. The system was supposed to hit on Thursday, but f@#ked around for 2 days out to sea before crossing the coast on Sat morning, and sitting still for 48 hours, dumping >500mm rain on us. The risk of major flood was real. Airports were closed, etc.
Having said that, the system had downgraded by Sunday night to a point where the window was open (no pun intended). Plans were made to go to an optional venue (indoors) if needed, etc, and the band wanted - if possible - to proceed. Which they did, in spades. By Monday the weather had dissipated, the venue had not flooded and was able to get prepared, the airports opened, the CBD had avoided a real cannonball of weather, and the promoter had gotten council approval to proceed.
So yes, some in certain parts of the region may still have had challenges in attending, but for the vast majority it was a wonderful gig of pure bliss, and the disappointment and noise would have been far greater had they cancelled. But as usual, the press will prefer to report the minority view, won't they...
...and so backstage after the gig I had the chance to say proper thanks to Bernard & co.
