My VERY FIRST message on the forum (on this version) was somewhere in JUNE, more than a month before it was actually opened to the public -- and it wasn't on Digital Republic, neither on Buy/Sell/Trade, but on the third forum existing on this website and that can only be accessed by Nicolas and I: the TEST FORUM. This is the place where we would test and develop the message board interface...
and my first message was an insult addressed to Nicolas.

The funniest thing is that when I posted my remarks regarding the aforementionned PICTURE (aherm), Muffy had been a member for a while, and if I hadn't posted that complaint about the picture (which was really a way to start controversy to be honest), then maybe he wouldn't have posted on the forum as of yet!

Yes Sebsy, tis true that I had been a member for a while, but back then I was 'casing the joint' so to speak and maybe a little apprehensive about trying to join this particular hot-tub. The photo was my way of jumping in!

Anybody lucky enough to be at the Manchester G-Mex Centre gig in 1988?
This has to be one of the defining moments in NO history. An absolute quality affair. A Certain Ratio kicked off the gig with a myriad of random songs that nobody had ever heard of, followed by The Happy Mondays in their infancy. Looked like NO had allowed them a break (never seen or heard of them really at this point).
Anyway, as The Happy Mondays were plodding through some guitar 'raw' (as if they've ever been any different) versions of their early material on walks Hooky across the stage to flick the v's at Sean Ryder. Nice bit or repoir going on there, Hooky did this about 3 times, for no apparent reason - it was funny, and what a NO gig. should be about.
Happy Mondays clear off then the hall goes silent, enter NO and 'Touched by the Hand of God' pulsating, throbbing and meaty bassline... Jeezus, absolutely sublime! - what a set ensued, absolute genius. First time I'd heard any of Technique's songs, in fact, when Vanishing Point stops near the end to allow the high hats (just before the big ending) eveybody clapped and cheered as if it had finished. Barney was not happy as someone was blowing an air horn through Bizarre Love Triangle.
Just when things couldn't get any better Age of Consent starts up and Stevey Morrisey's kit sounded like a bomb going off.
Anyway, I'll be back to Manchester (obviously, the only place to see the Order) this year when they return to gigging in the UK.
It's been a long time, and lets be honest, Get Ready was a worry, however, having downloaded the Realplayer samples from this site it sounds like, well, No, which is definately a step in the right direction from 'SOME' of the material from Republic.
Now, did I tell you the story about when my girlfriend met Peter Saville for a few hours...
My first topic I remember well - i was still smarting about Get Ready not doing the decent thing and going at least Top Three. And then, sad to relate......I caught the bug.
And I'm pleased to say.......I've not got any better. In fact, I'VE JUST BEEN GETTING WORSE!!!! Why else did I decide to turn a lot of people's heads inside out with that (still ongoing) Teaser Thread??
You're all lovely people - I mean really even tho I don't know any of you - I get so much pleasure prattling on day in day out about nothing really serious, sharing daft anecdotes, useless trivia and just being generally anal as and when we please and it truly makes my day - especially considering how fucking miserable my life here in Shitsville (that's Stockport to you UK comrades) really is on a day to day basis. I may never get to meet many of the folks that write in here.......but just conversing like this through cyberspace makes me feel like a somebody.......rather than a nobody. Thank you all! Long may we argue and scream and shout and cuss and swear and laugh and cry and take the piss out of everything and then find meaning in it all once again....... 
I remember way back when, April or March of this year, I started posting because the site I normally visited had been overrun by trolls and I was looking for a safe haven of JD/NO-related conversation. This was back when there were no such things as fancy signatures (or at least I wasen't aware of them). Damn, that's way back.
(PS Haven't been posting quite as frequently lately, back to the good ole days of three or four posts in the middle of the day when no one's here. I'm not dead, just not quite as able to stick around as I was starting a few weeks back)

Just as a slight aside to this topic, I was wondering how long everyone's been logged onto other various NewOrder websites, forums, digests, message boards, etc on the Net..
Thinking back, I think I first posted to the old alt-music.neworder (or somesuch) board circa 1994(???), maybe earlier, my (hazy) university years. I think I joined the ceremony mailing list around the same time. There were lots of different names and websites dominating discussions around that time but some can still be found inhabiting various NO nooks and crannies.
Guess some of us have been lurking for quite a while. I'll slither off again now...
I first joined the Ceremony mailing list in early 1993 and I've abandonned it only two weeks ago. It was about time I did it I guess, but I just couldn't tolerate to endure any more of these idiots who have been filling the list these past two years, so I pulled the plug.
Never felt better.
