I`ve got a feeling Nic said the copy I won in the International competition was a promo? Maybe Nic or the other winners could confirm.

Yep, Nic said the same thing to me, but I still did not get my hands on that CD... Nic, what about we start talking about this again?

Well, I won one of those "promos" and it's a "gold stamped" promo, plus it's a cut-out (only on the back-sleeve though). Not that I'm not grateful for winning the CD+DVD, it saved me a couple of dollars since i would've bought it anyway... Thanks Nick.

Now back to the original question: besides the US "gold stamped" promo, there are a couple of regular promo releases:

CD: AU 2002 (Warner WCDB70) [promo]
CD: GE 2002 (Warner) [promo] ["Here To Stay"]

CDR: FR 2002 (WEA Music) [promo] ["International Best of"] CDR: UK 2002 (London) [promo]

I'm a little bit suspicious of the GE one, I've only seen on on picture and it looks kind of home-made. Anyway, all of the above have the same track-listing. A listing that differs slightly from the regular release. for example, they have the full length version of Confusion.

There are also some samplers:

12": UK 2002 (London B269198-01) [promo] CDR: UK 2002 (London) [promo] CD5: EU 2002 (London PRO3646) [promo sampler]

The EU CD5 has a 6:51 version of Crystal as opposed to the Lee Coombs remix.

Edit: Oops, I forgot the Japanese CS sampler and the Korean CD promo. Tracklisting same as the regular release...

Hope this helps, /TLV

The latest beta-version of http://www.niagara.edu/neworder/ resides locally on my computer. A major update to the on-line version should be expected later on this year - I want to give the collectors a nice Christmas gift.

You probably have the ASCII version of the Discography. We stopped offering it for download a long time ago. I still maintain it though, and a copy would be available on request (once the update is complete).

And yes, I am an infoholic... :D

I've got one of the Australian promo CD's with the 12" mix of "The Perfect Kiss" on it (Warner WCDB70):

Tracklisting:

Ceremony Blue Monday (Original 12" Mix) Confusion (Arthur Baker 12" Mix) Thieves Like Us The Perfect Kiss (Original 12" Mix) Shellshock Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep Pettibone 12 Mix) True Faith (Original 12" Mix) Touched By The Hand Of God (Original 12" Mix) Crystal 60 Miles An Hour Here To Stay

If you need track timings, I'll be able to let you know?

l8rs,

Nick ;)

Nick, how long is that TPK 12" mix?

I'm not sure at the moment, but will find out when I get home. It's definitely the full 12" mix (i.e. different to the one on Substance), because I remember leaping up with joy when I played it - finally, finally! :jawdrop:

(For reference, I bought the Japanese, US, German, and French versions of International and was dismayed that they didn't take the opportunity of putting the 12" mix on one of these???)

l8rs,

Nick ;)

P.S. Give me a nudge if I don't let you know by tonight! :thumb:

How different is the full length PK compared to the Substance version? Is it simply an (even Longer) ending or something else?

It has about 40 seconds more in the ending, and it makes the whole difference. At least for me.

Ah well, after all that, it's the bloody Substance edit..!:nuts::cry:

I'm sure I've got it on CD somewhere, but it aint't the Australian promo!

Gosh, I was hoping you would give me good news...:( The search for the original 12" on CD continues... anyway, I have it on mp3 ripped from the single, not excellent quality, but if you want it, just let me know.

I did a digitised version of the full length 12" using my Technics 1210 and an expensive preamp, then included it on a different version of 'Retro' I recorded for myself (see this thread here for more details).

The quality is very good indeed, and has the same volume levels and similar EQ to the remastered stuff that appeared on the released version of 'Retro'. I'm not aware that the full 12" has ever come out on CD.

About time someone released the rare vinyl, if not London Records (hello LTM?).

Just a thought: Hooky said Joy Division master tapes were rescued from a skip when Factory went bust, and apparently the masters of 'Run 2' don't exist anymore - could it be that the old vinyl has never come out on CD simply because masters have been lost and don't exist anymore?

Andy.

His name is Raj, Julio. And he was the one who ripped the 12" I was talking about. It was not "remastered", and the sound was a bit low in my opinion. But he did some excellent work for all NOOLers, even bringing some rare tracks into mp3.
