My girlfriend is not impressed by New Order, but then again she is 21.
What age group has the most NO fans, I would say the late thirties possibly. When I went to the Finsbury Park festival everyone looked so - well - my age :(
Are New Order rubbish??

I'm almost 20 and very impressed by NO. Then again, you ask most 20 year olds who NO is, and they'll be like "Who?"

Then you mention Blue Monday to the 20 year old, and they respond "Oh, that song by Orgy" ![]()
I lent 'substance' (a good beginners CD) to one of my 14-year-old students today. If he learns anything this year in my class, and if I have any effect on his life....
Yep - the poll is called 'New Order fan - age group poll'. Most fans are in the 30-35 age range from memory (alzheimers considered).

That's good, introducing him to such good music. The first pop music tapes my parents owned were Marr's "pump up the volume" and a Janet Jackson album from 1992, and it never grew on my. Thank my good taste of music.
My first exposure to music was a free Bon Jovi tape being handed out at a Best Buy store in the early nineties

that is quite impressive :D id be careful though, expose him to too much new order and by the time he hits his teens he'll be leading anti-new order rallys at trafalgar square, stopping traffic and posting leaflets of hooky naked with the word NO! printed over it on bemused punters windscreens

thought I'll do Ricardo's bit for him ![]()
Of course NO isn't rubbish. But their are 2 problems with their music.
neither of their songs are the same. So its hard for people to recognize them. Listen to ceremony, temptation, blue monday, confusion, thieves like us, perfect kiss and so on. All these songs could be from different bands. The beauty of it is , that guys went through a creative evolution. Only so few recognize that.
the other problem is that there are a lot of songs which are not good enough.

Such as ?
Yeah their crap, but hey bum notes, changed lyrics it all made a great live experience.
So sad that Barney now needs an auto cue

I disagree entirely. Yes, New Order have released some diverse sounds, but surely you can spot one of their records a country mile off? Hooky's bass especially, and Barney's vocal, are inimitable.

Reasons why New Order rule:
Blue Monday 586 This Time of Night Cutee Gillian in Perfect Kiss Video Rubbish Confusion video Rubbish performance of Blue Monday on TOTP Technique (all of it, the artwork, the singles everything!) World Special NOT Spooky True Faith 94 artwork Hacienda No Hacienda Money No Money Money again Ibiza NOT Brutal Video 586 (obscure but brilliant) Crystal Billy Corgan 60 MPH video Retro (except Ceremony!) :p
NO !!!! NOT Rubbish at all!
(Well, maybe that song with the insipid lyric "I would like a place I could call my own,... to have a conversation on the telephone....blah blah blah "....
OTHER THAN THAT track - New Order are THE BEST MUSIC Group ever , well, ...maybe just after the Beatles, that is,...
Er ... I think you mean Regret. Which is one of the better singles. Although not my favourite from Republic. That honour goes to World! ![]()
