All pending orders of the 'Refractured' box set should be cancelled ----- NOW!

I just got home with a copy and.... all three discs have 2-SECOND GAPS between the songs. I am NOT kidding. Furthermore, the company that puts the thing out seems to try and circumvent the licencing troubles they ran into by keeping silent about the 'Amsterdam' disc on the outside of the box, and by secretly adding it to the 'Bains Douches' disc in a slim line jewel case. Oh, and the glitch one minute into 'Shadowplay' is still there, too. :\pissedoff: :headoff: :barf:

Why even bother putting this thing together if its not going to be done correctly? Oh yeah...to make money.

Jan, I cannot believe how bad the discs that you describe are.

When this box was originally listed, it was announced with a retail price of about 40 Euro, but today it cost me 59,50 Euro, and believe me: the local indie shop I bought it at (one of the last ones standing!) charges the lowest prices around.

The three discs come with a black T-shirt that says "refractured" and a 'reproduction' of the "Bains Douches tour poster" (sic) that measures 36 by 24 cm (3 times the size of a CD-booklet). In actual fact, the box has a sticker branding it as "fracturedboxone", which gives the impression that there might actually be a "boxtwo" as well - I shudder to think.

Actually, if the discs had been mastered properly, it wouldn't be so bad. The Preston disc has now been augmented with the four tracks from Eindhoven that previously were on the 'Bains Douches', and they made the effort of adding the little intro to Digital. The nine tracks from Paris '79 now make a separate disc, and the mastering errors from the previous release (lots of digital clicks & a glitch during Insight) have been rectified. But any conceivable merits this set might have are effectively annulled by those ugly 2-second gaps between all the single tracks. This error has already been confirmed by somebody else (from New York City) on the messageboard of the 'Joy Division Central'. Absolutely unbelievable... And as for "the first official release" of the Paradiso '80 tracks: it's patently obvious (from the faulty Shadowplay) that they have simply been lifted from one of the many available bootleg releases of this gig.

Jan, you're making me wish I hadn't ordered it now :( However, I've had an e-mail saying it's been despatched so cancelling is no longer an option. About the price, I ordered it when the price was GBP33, now it's already up to GBP40 .

Yeah, I was gutted by the price of the set, too. Originally, it was announced at appr. 40 Euro, but I ended up paying 60!

Anyway, I would think it shouldn't be too difficult to get a refund for this abomination, is it?

And if you cannot edit out those gaps yourself, I'll gladly do it for you, and send you three CD-Rs!

I'm sorry, I have every "officially released" Joy Division track, as you can see from my list at www.morriso.btinternet.co.uk/JoyDivisionTracks.html and as far as I'm concerned, this ain't official, regardless of it being on sale in record stores. Sounds like a shoddily put together compilation with no official sanctioning, and a ridiculously high price tag.

I'm the target consumer for an item like this, but am simply refusing to acknowledge its existence, due to not wanting to be ripped off.

got it today, and have decided to keep it. it's not worth the hassle and Derek likes the t-shirt

....I think Box Two will have the 3 releases in LP vinyl format...with a free postcard of that Les Bain Douche Poster....and a pair of male 'Y-front' undies, comes with three optional choice of wording on the front - 'XXXX will tear us apart', 'Atrocity Exhibition' or 'A Means To An End ( only back printing available )

Mine is number 1226. I paid 42 € for the box, bought by Amazon (France) with free delivery !
