I'm trying to commit my entire NO collection to MP3 and I'm ALMOST there - apart from a few things...

  1. ShellCock
  2. Blue Monday (Starwash & Corleone Mixes)
  3. Someone Like You (I only have two of the six mixes released on vinyl NUOX10 NUOXX10 only)
  4. The seemingly untraceable True Faith 2001 mixes, of which I only have one or two?

Anybody have any clues as to where they could be obtained? Thanx!

Not clear about this one: if you're putting your own collection on to mp3, then you just need to find these songs in your collection. If you're looking for illegal downloads of them, go to the usual places. If you're trying to actually buy the tracks, as many people used to do in days of old, then Shellcock is on the Shellshock 12" single, widely available in good record stores and online, as are those Blue Monday and Someone Like You mixes you speak of. As for the 'True Faith' 2001 mixes, I have six of them on a (very expensive) promo CD, but if I can locate them and buy these tracks, so can any other New Order fan, with a little dosh to spare.

I have the Starwash mix of Blue Monday and Shellcock as mp3. I can send them via MSN if you'd like.

In answer to Mr Discography, 90% of what I'm MP3ing is what I've bought - I'm old enough to have seen Joy Division, so that's a LOT of money. It's just that there're some things I CAN'T get hold of. Someone Like You was only issued on 3 12" singles, (which I have), but I don't have them digitally.

I wouldn't want anybody to think that I wasn't putting ANY money into NO's pocket - they, and JD have given me a lot of pleasure over the years and I wouldn't dream of trying to rip them off.

I've now managed to get the "Someone Like You" mixes, but I still don't have Blue Monday Starwash or Corleone - and I've given up on most of the Poin Noise/Philip Steir remixes of True Faith! If the person who mentioned being able to let me have them via MSN would get in touch, they'd make an old NO fan very happy.

Sorry if I got anybody's back up! :)

Fair enough, Pete. I wasn't having a go as such, just curious. I've known people before who have asked me for a few mp3s to complete their collection, only to discover that their "collection" exists solely on their hard-drive, and that they've never bought a single New Order release - which, frankly, sucks.

I didn't doubt you had a lot of the material in question, just wondered why you were looking for mp3s of what you already had. Personally, I just copied my vinyl onto CD-R for playing in my discman using my Technics and a decent preamp, but I appreciate we've not all got the time (or money) to do that!

Cheers, Andy! As much as anything, I just wanted to safeguard my collection in the event of fire, theft, nuclear holocaust etc, and while 3 or 4 CDs full of MP3s aren't nearly as good as my complete collection of 12"s, it's better than nothing at all. The problem is, once you try to be a completist, you end up chasing your own tail! I didn't even KNOW about Starwash or Corleone mixes of Blue Monday - if I had, I'd have bought them! My next projects are Tha Chameleons and Killing Joke. Now I'm REALLY showing my age!
