Is anybody really that bothered about a new album?

I was terrified when they announced they were working on the record that eventually became "Get Ready" 'cos I was certain it'd be absolute shite - in the end, tho', and despite its flaws, its miles better than it had any right to be, so I'm quite looking forward to the new 'un.
For many of us, however, the new record is mostly the stepping stone to a new batch of gigs - see you all down the front!
Of course we are...
Otherwise we'd be like Elvis fans, trying to find a way to get new recordings by ressurecting the songs he did when he was 5 years old :D
New material can only be good news, altough it's the first one they do as a trio, which might be a little sad.

Lets put it this way, I will look forward to it more than any other album since the last NewOrder album came out!!!
As for gigs, even the slightest sniff of a chance that we might get to hear some of their classics we missed out on in their last live batch fills me with complete excitement. :D
Not really. But it's a means to an end. New product equals new gigs to promote said product, or so you'd hope. Why they can't do a mini-tour now though is beyond me. A little something to sustain our interest. Gigs generally sell the back catalogue as well, but they're obviously doing alright on that score at the moment..

Slippy , Blue Monday is shite, They have enogh songs to tour with.
All I am saying is the live experience is better than the tame records they put out.

Have you seen New Order live in a small UK venue? Especially circa 84-86 , if so you know the reason why live beats the vinyl offerings

sure i'd like to hear some new material. i don't listen to their later albums as often as the 1981-1982-brotherhood years, but i'd be lying if i said i wouldn't walk on glass to get to a new NO album if it came out.

nope...not fortunate enough to have seen any gigs in England until 2001...so no small venues...
and all my U.S. gigs have been at the obligatory Amphitheatres...
maybe that's why I like the albums!!!

mike is correct and 84-87 was fantastic but any new vinyl offerings will be worthwile and ultimately cherished.
any gig creates memories and for me sitting in an ampitheatre in a beautiful location would probably be nicer than getting crushed to death in some pokey hole..
but then again !!!

i'd rather face the perils of getting crushed, myself (as much as i despise it). i'm not one for breaking out the binoculars. red rocks being the only exception!

amphitheatres blow!!! just wish I hadn't been such a lightweight at Finsbury...couldn't last down in the mass of humanity surging back and forth...besides...the beer tent was off to the side!!!

I tend to agree with you, I prefer listening to the live stuff but I look forward to the new album for three reasons.
- More New Order songs
- New New Order songs I have never heard
- Chance that they will gig to pimp the album hence a chance to see them live
i want new albums, singles, b-sides, etc. some of you who talk about just seeing them at a festival sound really jaded. i can't fly to the west coast to stand around all day at a festival and they don't care about being in any other part of the country. cds are the closest some of us ever get to them.
They may never write anything as good as Temptation, Ceremony or Transmission again but neither are they going to perform with the same intensity as they did in the past. Given a choice of a concert by numbers featuring 4 or 5 Get Ready tracks, the crappy BLT and True Faith versions or new material of the standard of Soundtrack or Here To Stay. It's got to be new material. It won't cost £120 and I won't have to plough through a muddy field to get to it.
