I was actually going to say that, just for fun. I just can't imagine Eno working with New Order.
Why not?
He worked plenty of studio magic with James and they're not leagues away from New Order in stature or style.
The 'Eno to produce New Order' debate has been simmering for years on NO lists, with many fans seemingly offended by the prospect. At this stage of their career and with the sound they're aiming for, I for one would be very interested to hear what Eno could throw into the mix.
When you're debating producers, surely the defining factor is NO's musical direction. Word is that it's going to be stripped back and rockier. This will doubtless appeal to some fans, disappoint others and would suggest that producers like Hague or the Chemicals are less likely to be approached.
If Gillian was back with her keyboards and Steve was willing to dump his kit for the PC, I'd like to see them go out on a limb with someone like Layo & Bushwacka, James Lavelle or Dave Clarke. Even for a few tracks.
