I love Way of Life, Slow Jam, and Every Little Counts. I didn't know so many people hated these songs. I think Brotherhood might be New Order's second best album, only after Power, Corruption & Lies.

I never really cared for We All Stand either. Although I will admit that it is growing on me a little.

Absolutely. I really must get of that fence.:thumb:

yeah, i'm not trying to bust your balls. just say what you think. personally, i love every little counts. musically, it expresses that classic N.O. attitude that says to me ,"right now, we are too fucked up to care."

That's because they are fat lazy lards:laugh:

-ripping you off at every chance.

 Think about it.

it's an attitude that seldom flys in music. i'm into it.

I kind of like that end bit with boomerang synth noise followed by that bass guitar solo/riff whatever. But I understand the hatred.

That being said, Liar is the worst. There is zero quality in any of it, the keyboards, the drums, the lyrics ("You are the KIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGG of NOTTTTTHINNNNGGGG," what??????), it's all complete cr@p. I imagine if forced to search anyone could find something, some tiny thing tolerable about that Sub-Culture remix, the same cannot be said of Liar, or of much of Republic for that matter (ditto for much of Movement-Im glad some can appreciate something in that debacle, but I can't find much beyond two or three tunes, more than half of the entire album is unadulterated cr@p in my view).

I don't understand the distaste for "Every Little Counts," it's a goof on an old Lou Reed song, "Walk on the Wild side," (I'm sure the majority already realize that) w/new, equally goofy lyrics, and a slightly different tune. It's a joke. Can't a band have a joke, have a laugh, and have people not get pi$$y about it? I take it as a goof, that's mildly amusing, and has a brief beautiful keyboard section towards the end of the tune.

I always thought it was perfectly fine, what bothered me were tunes taken seriously that just sounded freaking awful, We all Stand, Liar, Chemical, that kind of cr@p.

Chemical is one of my favourite songs ever. It's storming, I love the keyboard in the middle, the absolutely cool way Bernard sings the chorus and the minimalist but powerful final with those two Hooky notes. We All Stand is also great, a try at melancholic jazz, would have liked to hear more like that.

Chemical is cool. Why does eveyone hate the song so much? Actual reasons, not just "It's shit" hehe.

liar's synth bass part is kinda catchy. i'm shakin' my booty at my desk right now, thinking of it.

Tecnically this belongs in the lyrics thread but rapping "yellow fever, yellow hay" seals it for Times Changefor me.

SOTN was very lucky not to get a mention too - oops!:nono:

Believe it or not I like most of Movement despite not rating it is anywhere near their best album, I don't like We All Stand on PC & L, I'm not too fond of Face Up as the lyrics just irritate me for some reason! Weirdo and Way of Life are shite guitar-pop nothings, Every Little Counts is crap because of the dreadful piss take lyrics... as for the singles I think State of the Nation and Shellshock are dreadful. And I'm not too fond of a lot of stuff on Get Ready either, but believe it or not I honestly love New Order!! :D

Not when the buggers charged you for buying it, and insisted on wheeling it out live when there were perfectly valid other songs they could have played instead. Their lowest point, a joke that wasn't funny approx 4 seconds after they first told it at Valby.

they nearly managed to ruin one of the most perfect nights at malvern by slamming this awful song slap bang in the middle of one the top order nights.
