New Order unplugged.... ?

i'm surprised by how nice Bizarre love triangle is as the recent acoustic number with Barney with vocals...

new order unplugged sounds like an oxymoron,do you think they could pull it off? they play it too safe nowadays, maybe Barney should try an acoustic set of their songs (he would probably freak out at the idea, but can't be worse than his dancin')

yeah, its a stupid idea, but it makes you wonder how many songs would work stripped down like that.

There`s quite a few tracks they could do acoustic:

A piano is acoustic,they could use one instead of the synth. It would be ok i think.

I remember reading, over a year ago, an article about memorable shows at the Metro in Chicago. One of those shows was New Order, in 1983. According to the manager of the club, NO's equiptment failed and they had to do an "acoustic" version of Blue Monday. I've been curious about how that would sound, although I heard that a bootleg of this show is hard to find.

What about the acoustic version of Blue Monday in "24 Hour Party People". If a bunch of actors pretending to be New Order can do it then why not the real thing?

"New Order" and "acoustic" are incompatible, imho . I hope they'll never do an acoustic show. And, plehease, no more Run Wildey crap on their next album .

From what I understand about that gig, it was only the synths that failed, and then part-way through the gig rather than at the beginning. They simply did a guitar-based set from halfway. Similar thing happened to them at Denver Red Rocks in 1987 - they ended up playing a guitar songs second half of set because the synths had packed up.

Presumably flaunting ownership of and then hogging a much-sought after tape like that is considered bad form amongst the bootleg 'ardcore, Tim?

Maybe then it would have back then (1987), but not really now. The internet has opened so many trading avenues up, everything is much more accessible and more speedily. Quite a few people have advertised "RSO" tapes over the years, only for trade with suitably rare material. One-upmanship really, but it count for fuck all if nobody has got anything to share. It wouldn't have hurt him to let us have the set-list for records purposes, makes you suspect that it was bullshit all along. There's supposedly a US 1980 show available from someone over on WIM, he won't let anyone have more than a 30 second sample, sounds fair dinkum.

Perhaps Intermission could trade it with his Plan K footage?

Accoustic music is generally shit, that's why New Order and other bands don't make it in the first place. Stupid 'get real' MTV gimmick for luddites.

spONE's suggestions could be boughtout as a bonus EP on the first 2,000 cd copies of the new album in each country that issues NO product thru London Records licencees(Dunno how that would go Stateside if NO gets dropped from Warners before the next album though).

I asked Snotters about this and he said it turned out to be a dud, somebody had substituted an edited Washington (I presume '83) in an attempt to pass it off as the Chicago gig, which he didn't find out about until later. Unfortunately, he doesn't recall the identity of the miscreant who perpetrated this deception.

The version of Red Rocks I have sounds really poor, something about condenser mics and outdoor gigs not mixing?

Likely the source since another version I auditioned (on MP3) was equally as bad.

I have always felt, and still do, that the second Peel Session has a very 'acoustic' feel to it... and bloody great it is, too!
