Just received the 3 16 DVD this morning. It's fookin' great !! The sound on Tara's gig is incredibly good, me think they had to remaster it to get this quality.. It's fun too to spot the differences between the 2 gigs for each member of the band. Gillian had incredible hair & makeup in '81!! On the Reading '98 show, though, she seemed a bit - hum, how to say that in a kind way - overweighted? was she pregnant or something at that time? Well, then she might have been for the Ampersand club interview as well.. At the opposite, time seems to have no effect on Stephen. Thanks to the english subtitles, I managed to understand all what Barney said- i mean he has such a northern accent for my poor-trained French ear..

You might think i'm a bit too enthusiastic (spelling?) about it, but I think it's a very good idea they released these 2 gigs on a DVD!! hope US/Canadian fans will be able to put their hands on it soon, because it is a classic!

PS: Ben, from the French forum, had an explanation about the 3 16, which could come from some Cyrillic letters written on the venue... Anyone here noticed?

haha! spooky thread posting similarities ;)

the thing that struck me about the 81 gig on the 316dvd was the way Barney sung, his voice was quite frankly pitiful!!(when he did actually "sing") then flick over to reading98 and its amazing to hear the massive change!!

All their electronic & synths material was amazing too. It's kind of archeology to see it working live.. About Barney's voice, I heard somewhere he took singing lessons to improve it - not sure if it's true, though.

And there was me thinking it had been a cocktail of Pernod, Asti Spumante and Orange Juice, combined with better sound facilities !

I like the singing on TS (even Hooky's Dreams Never End...almost Ian-like). Barney sounds particularly fine on Everything's Gone Green
